from Three words of advice for reaching out to animal rescuers: assume the best.

Assume that if you’re reaching out to someone who does animal rescue, you’re reaching out to someone who has a huge heart. Assume that they care deeply about saving lives. Assume that if they don’t respond to you right away, or at all, it’s because they’re so busy helping animals. Assume that you’re the 10th, 20th, or 100th person to reach out to them today asking for help. Assume that if they can’t help you, it’s because they are already at max capacity. Assume that you do not know or see a fraction of what is on their plate. Assume that they might be exhausted. Assume that they might be grieving, or tender. Assume that they are a loving, kind person who is a source of good for the world. Assume that they are worthy of being treated with consideration and respect. Assume that they are human.

Because 9 times out of 10, if you assume these things about an animal rescuer, you will be right. So when you reach out to an animal rescuer, let your words be filled with gratitude, patience, and understanding. Don’t use your words to jab at animal rescuers for not being available enough, not doing more, not “caring,” not being able to single-handedly save the world. Treat animal rescuers with compassion, not just when they can help you, but even—and especially—when they can’t. And when they can’t, don’t assume the worst. Assume the best.

Reposted from Manny Me-aw has the longest blep I have ever seen.
Here he is, in a rare butt-naked pose cos we're dealing with some diaper allergies. (though we have used the same nappy brand for 4 years)
Manny is looking for a wonderful home in Canada; he hasn't found a single adoption lead in India for four years. Transport & paperwork will be arranged from our side.
He is paralysed and needs bladder expression twice to thrice a day. He is an extremely compliant Cat. And a total lovebug.
To adopt Manny, pls drop me a DM.
We are in Bombay, India.

They are owell behaved and adjusting, despite multiple foster changes & their struggles. They are full of love for the Hoomans.

While they wait, we will continue to relentlessly post about these babies till they find a home. God knows the deserve it!
To adopt them please DM us or SMS on 9136127487

Times are tough and we are barely getting by. Despite our best efforts we are once again in need of YOUR help.
Our bills from just "Dawgz" (one of the pet shops we use) between January-April is Rs.4,71,593. As mentioned, we order from other places too and have large bills to settle.
While we have cleared payments for Rs.1,95,783, an amount of Rs.2,75,810 is still pending for the above period.
Our deadline to clear all outstanding is by mid May and we need to urgently transfer at least 1/3rd of the bill by the 30th of April. We can't do without food..
Your support would highly be appreciated at a time like this. If you wish to donate directly to the pet shop, please DM.
Else you can use:

Paytm / Gpay / Phonepe on 9619948501
Or UPI on sibkhushi@upi
to help us with this outstanding amount. Pls mention "Food Bills" in your transfer note as we have vet bills, rents, and other bills to clear too and your donation may be accidentally considered for those.

Many people will wonder why our pet shop bills are so high.
We have fostering programs where all supplies are provided by us. Even for trial adoptions, we take care of all the costs including neutering, until the animal is officially adopted.
With 45+ rescue cats getting quality care 24x7 until they are adopted, costs tend to spike. Therefore, any donation, no matter big or small, would really really help us. Every penny counts.

Pyroar and Alola along with many other cats are still looking for homes.
While they wait for their fur-ever home, would you help them just a teeny bit by fostering.
Or, if you know a cat lover, encourage them to save a life and join our foster team.

Why foster you may ask.

Fostering is a wonderful way to prep a cat for adoption, allows us to know more about the cat, keeps them healthy and opens up room for us to rescue more strays in need!
SO many benefits if you just choose to foster. This comes at no cost to you, except that we require a cat proofed, netted home.

We will provide you with everything you need to be an awesome foster: food, litter, basic medical care and supplies.
And will be there with you every step of the way.

DM us today to join our foster team. You can also copy the foster link from the comment section below.

With the lockdown being tough on everyone of us, adoptions being at an all time low, you can help us sustain a rescue cat until they get adopted. We have several unadopted cats waiting on homes and even the smallest help will make a big difference.

Signing up to be a virtual parent means you can choose to send us a monthly donation ( starting from as little as 500rs) towards a particular rescue cat or towards expenses in general for whatever period you are comfortable with. This helps us immensely as times are tough and your donations however big or small will help us sustain till adoption rates get better and towards our many special needs cats who have a very slim chance at adoption but we CAN give them a good life.

To sign up as a virtual pawrent follow the link below⬇️

If you can't adopt, Foster!

Why should I foster a cat?
By providing a rescue Cat your home temporarily you’re:

☺freeing up a spot so rescuers can divert in all their attention to another rescue that is really sick and needs undivided time

☺giving your foster cat the time and socialisation it needs to be adoption-ready

☺helping rescuers learn more about the rescue cat's personality so we can find them the best home possible based on their personality traits

☺acclimating the rescue cat to a home environment and possibly getting it used to being around other pets and different types of people.

Not only does fostering provide you with an invaluable experience, it also helps you explore the possibility of having your own pet. Needless to say, you are helping save a life.

Hope and determination, that is what we are striving for Rescue Nemo. The same determination and hope shown by Nemos father was to find him in the movie ' Finding Nemo'

Didn't think the name would translate so literally in real life.
We have hope that one day Nemo will recover. One day will be that happy day.

Reposted from

Five whole months (Dec to Apr) of vet visits, blood draws, antibiotics, xrays, ultrasounds, holistic meds, emergencies.. and yet.. Nemo won't stop losing copious amounts of blood in her urine. No vet is able to tell us why or how.
Nothing is working. Her kidneys have begun failing.
I can tell, just by looking at a Cat's fur, when they start having kidney issues.. Even before the tell-tale signs appear.
It kills me to see this happen to one of my own so early on. The flipside of rescuing the handicapped and the immune-compromised and the genetically weaker ones (Nemo is a drawf cat with a ton of immunity issues).
Nemo's vet thinks it is time to get a CT done in hopes of catching the source of her internal bleed. The anaesthesia for the CT may worsen her kidneys, but it's our only hope. I have decided against an exploratory surgery. She will bleed to death and in India we don't even have a lot of successful Feline blood transfusions to boast of. We don't do Blood Typing but only Cross Matching, and that is not good enough for Cats. It can cause fatal reactions. We don't have donor databases or bloodbanks or the reqd kits. I haven't seen too many successful transfusions.
I feel helpless and so so frustrated. But until things change for good, we work with what we have.

Viserion has Cryptorchidism, discovered while he was prepped for his neutering surgery.
A 1-year old male Cat with both testicles undescended, it affects less than 2% of cats. It is rare.
Viserion's anaesthesia was immediately reversed and the vet emailed me with further course of action. One of our rescue Dogs, Lucky (now adopted), had this condition, and I have seen another Dog suffer from testicular cancer in the retained testicle. But this is the first time I came across cryptorchidism in Cats.
Viserion will need an abdominal ultrasound to look for the retained testicles. Surgery to remove them will be both longer in duration & expensive than a regular neuter.
If left as is, retained testicles can develop cancerous tumors / an emergency complication called as "spermatic cord torsion".
Best way forward is to get the scans done to locate where both testicles are (inside the abdomen) and proceed with the neuter as soon as possible.
Viserion's brother Drogon is still awaiting his neutering and likely to be scheduled next week. Tomorrow I have Oggy & Olly scheduled for theirs.
The faster Drogon & Viserion are neutered, the sooner they can go for their trial adoption too. Like Milo.
I have managed the cost of their previous bloodwork, vaccines, and their food & litter this past 1 year, but it is really impossible to cover every single expense without help.
Please donate towards our surgeries if you are able to:
Paytm / Gpay / Phonepe: 9619948501
UPI: sibkhushi@upi

By donating, you not only help keep Viserion safe from further complication, but also push him a step closer towards a forever home.

Love cats but not sure about adopting?
We've got you covered.
Choose to become a foster.
DM us or SMS on 9136127487 to join our foster team.

Work towards a good cause and give these rescue babies a loving foster home.
(everything else will be covered by us; whether it's vet visits, food, litter, transportation etc.)
As we always say the best thing after a permanent home is a nurturing foster one.

We will be there with you providing step by step guidance, always available to answer your questions and ready to help. The only thing WE need from you is a cat proofed, netted home.*

*The reason for this is that cats are inherently curious and tend to sneak out and fall/jump from open spaces, resulting in injuries or sadly sometimes death.

There's a new diaper-strutting, rusk-eating Boss Kitty in town🙀

4 years ago, Rhea was rescued, severely injured, thrown into a garbage bin.
She dragged herself out and on the coarse hot streets which made severe injuries on her underbelly and hind region resulting in complete a**l muscle tone loss.
She is now fully recovered and independent. Can eat by herself and climb on beds and small furniture with ease. She loves watching Bird videos on Youtube and is the perfect Netflix binge partner.

Rhea is incontinent and dribbles urine through the day hence needs to be on diapers which can be changed 3 to 4 times. She also needs light massage & gentle pressing around her colon area to express p**p.

She is a very happy kid but hates other animals. So needs to be an only Pet.

Age- 4 Years
Vaccinated- Yes
Neutered-Yes
Litter-trained-yes
Dewormed-Yes
Fiv/Felv Negative

Rhea is in Mumbai but will travel to the US or Canada provided she finds a loving home.
(Transportation will be arranged by us)

Funds appeal for grandpa Bhobosingh.

Very rarely will you see us post about the seniors. This is one of the rare occasions where we have found ourselves in a fix. This Sunday Bhobho ended up swallowing a needle which ended up with him in the emergency room requiring an urgent surgery to remove it. A red swollen boil was also discovered at the beginning of his throat which will need additional tests. His surgery just yesterday ended up with a bill of ₹19932, inclusive of anaesthesia, surgery procedure and emergency costs.

Even the smallest donation will go a long way.

One year, 365 days, and a zillion beautiful memories!
Happy 1st birthday to our lockdown babies- Oggy, Olly, Milo, Drogon, Viserion and Rhaegal!
Rescued on the first day of the lockdown on 25th March last year, these babies turn a year old today.
Found abandoned in an empty market - mother dead and her week-old tiny babies left to die in the scorching heat with not a human in sight. Such was the apathy these kids faced within just a few days of existence. Since then, these six have grown and how!
It's been a year of fun with their various fosters Tasneem & Arva, Sana, Raghavi, Rani, Priti, Ashlesha, Roshni, Lydia, Akanksha, Priya, Mitrali, Saloni, Saroda.. and finally pura Mumbai darshan karke they have all come to your's truly due to lack of fosters (and sadly stay in cages as I have very ltd space to keep everyone free roaming).
Hand raised little cubs have grown into pocket tigers, each one waiting to find their own loving home. Cannot thank their very first two foster Moms enuf- Sana & Tasneem for taking them on, despite lockdown challenges, and inspite of how slim the survival odds were. Thanks to you, these kids live to see today... 🤗
Bahut papad bele hai inke liye. Bahut haath pair maare.
In the first month itself, all six battled serious ailments and we fought for their lives. Their fosters have initially had many sleepless nights followed by long long video calls with me in panic & desperation - thankfully that is a thing of the past. They are all healthy and vaccinated now.. only waiting to get neutered.
While I have somehow managed their expenses this past year and dealt with emergencies and vaccines with your kind donations, we yet again call upon your support with their neutering. All six (and Toothless too) need to be sterilized and we have no funds in our acct.
If you can spare any for their surgery, please consider making a small contribution. I'd be very very grateful to you. Neutering them will help with adoption appeals and increase their probability of finding a home.

This kid completes Four Years in this world today. Today also marks him waiting for a home for Three-and-a-half years of those Four.
We had a small purrty and everyone enjoyed treats from Puplord's Barkery that Dr Pooja (Manny's virtual Meowmy) lovingly sent us. She calls him Tigger aka Tiggy.
When I had rescued Manny, his CT showed a complete spinal transection (2nd-last pic). I sent his scans out to many vets and a well known veterinary Neurologist in the UK. Everyone responded, "this Cat will have a poor quality of life, it would be humane to euthanise him in our opinion".
While I would read every response with tears in my eyes, I would turn to see Manny's face. There he was - fully paralysed - unable to urinate - unable to breathe (his abdomen was torn into and spine broken) - unable to pass stools at will - staring right back at me wondering, "what a wimp she is!"
Manny, Rhea, Doru, Mimita Sr & Jr, GB, Bandu, Milo, Tommy, Charlie.. they all taught me one thing. The greatest glory in living lies not in never falling, but in rising every time we fall.

My favourite transformation post! Ichigo was found by when he collapsed in front of her car. He suffered with a severe case of diarrhoea and was extremely dehydrated. He also had worms coming out of his a**s and mouth, his intestines were being eaten away too. According to the doctors, another couple of days, and he would have been gone.

Shibani saved this fellow, got him the best treatment there is, and look how he is now. He came to me still skinny with his ribs showing, but in this household we EAT. A LOT!

Ichi still is reluctant and taking time to trust me entirely, but he knows now that he won’t go hungry or be attacked. He still has runny motions but he’s slowly getting better. He doesn’t allow me to pet him for too long, snaps at me if I go over his time limit - but it’s okay. He has been through a lot. It’ll take him some time to recover from the trauma.

This post is also an appeal to folks looking to get a pet cat, or dog. With a little bit of patience, this is what you can achieve. There are a lot of loving animals - young and adult - which could benefit from your kindness.

Please,

Someone rocked her 36 hour ordeal of a journey from India to the U.S, and as always came out shining.
Pari is now officially in the States and has begun chilling and making new memories.
Pari's Mom has promised to make a write-up for us soon, to share with prospective travellers about flying with your Pet internationally in these trying times. So please don't deter from taking your furry along in case you want to relocate. Don't leave them behind. You may never realise how badly it affects them though they may never show any signs (specially if they are a Cat).
And please please adopt a grown up Cat.
Everyone wants kittens - but don't adults deserve love too? Is it their fault they din't get chosen?
There have been so many times when I have pinned my hopes on people I thought will give an adult kitty a chance, and had my heart broken.
Don't let the seniors and the adults rot in cages and spare bathrooms. Don't get so used to seeing their sad caged bodies that you end up simply scrolling by. Please don't harden your soul to the point of becoming absolutely okay with their plight. That is the saddest thing you can do to your conscience.
As rescuers, we are helpless when we keep our rescued cats confined to prevent the nasty territorial fights. We don't have enough space nor resources to keep everyone comfortable.
But you, YOU my friend weild the power to break this cycle of hopelessness and give them a fresh start. Took TWO years for Pari to get hers. TWO! But for some rescues, it sadly never happens.

Please don't be the person to reject an adult Cat because they are "big".
Be the one that will transform their life, instead.
Be the light at the end of their tunnel, instead.
Be the happy memory of their twilight years, instead.
