Welcome Charley to Rhody Paws! 🐾

Charley is enrolled in our 4-week Puppy Homeschool program to cover all of her basics. Instead of trying to fix problems later, we are setting the foundation so she isn’t so much of a handful when she’s fully grown!

Charley is so clever, here you can see her learning her “down” cue during her very first lesson today!

Group classes not your thing? We offer a Puppy Homeschool! We work with your puppy 1-on-1 each week in addition to weekly coaching lessons to transfer everything they learn over to you.

Welcome Indie-Jones to Rhody Paws! 🐾

Despite his name, Indie was a bit nervous during his first field trip with us. Don’t let him fool you though, for at home he is described as a menace to society!

When setting our dogs up for success in the home, half is done with training/management, but the other half involves meeting your dog’s physical/mental needs! We are helping Indie’s owners with both over the next 4 weeks!

We are confident that in a short time, Indie-Jones will live up to his name and gain more confidence exploring the world!

Welcome back, Norm!

We had the pleasure of working with Norm over a 4-week Intensive Training program to improve his leash walking and curb his jumping. After making very impressive improvements, we now get to see him for regular training walks & hikes!

A massive part of having a well-mannered pup is ensuring their needs are met, and we are happy to be a part of Norm’s village in making that happen!

This gorgeous lady is a German Shepard-Lab mix in need of some basic training! She is quick to learn but can have trouble focusing around distractions or situations where she is unsure.

Welcome Izzy to Rhody Paws! 🐶🐾

🐾Izzy has first-time dog owners, so we are teaching them everything PUPPY! From socialization, potty training, nipping, chewing, and all of her basic cues, we are here to help with it all!

✨In her first lesson, we worked on her crate training. Her owners have the goal of asking Izzy to get in her crate no matter where they are in the home!

What’s Quinn’s only fault in life? 🤔💭

She’s just too friendly! Quinn wants to meet and smoosh on every person and dog she meets which can end up causing some fuss. We are working with her to have some more self control and be just as excited to work with her owner as she is with new people/dogs!

Welcome Tucker to Rhody Paws! Tucker is an 11-week-old Cavapoo who is learning all things puppy! He is incredibly smart and gets so excited during his training sessions. So much so he usually gets the zoomies! 💨

What do dog trainers mean when we say “socialize your puppy”? 🤔💭

What you might think is to have your puppy play with as many dogs & people as possible…but it is quite the contrary! Good socialization is the collective positive exposure to people, places & things meaning we are looking for quality, not quantity!

Cooper took his first socialization trip to Marshall’s today where he was able to do some world watching from the safety of the cart! Our goal is to have him remain neutral and handler focused. After he was good and tired, we also worked on some nail trimming desensitization. We were even able to nonchalantly cut some nails as a result! All of this work will help Cooper become a go anywhere, do anything type of dog! ⭐️

Welcome Phoebe to Rhody Paws! Phoebe is a 6 year old Newfoundland who is preparing for her therapy dog test! Her owner has been taking her Newfoundlands to Hasbro’s Children’s Hospital for years, and now it’s Phoebe’s time to shine! She has the most calm and sweetest demeanor, so we know she will be perfect for the job!

This past weekend, we spent a full two-days with Emma Parsons learning about building & maintaining connection in training the reactive dog. Quinn’s owner has struggled with walking more the one forward step without “losing” Quinn. Today we focused on the importance of a clean training loop. This means we started our session as cleanly as we finished it, all while keeping connection in between. Instead of fighting for moments of Quinn’s attention, we did short snippets of walking and then took breaks in the car while leaving on a positive note.
