Desert Willow Ranch, Rescue, & Rehab Desert Willow Ranch and Rescue is a sanctuary for lost, abandoned, sick and traumatized animals. Hi! We currently live with 7 cats, 10 dogs and 6 horses.
(1)

My name is Andrea and I am the founder of Desert Willow Ranch and Rescue. I started taking in animals after 9/11 in NYC when so many were left homeless due to the obvious disaster that took place. Since then, I have taken in cats, dogs, mice, birds and now horses. All of them come from either a situation of neglect, abuse or abandonment and my husband and I have provided a loving home for them all

. This rescue is being established to take in even more and be able to rehabilitate them, provide education to the community and start a program for animal-human therapy. Please join me on my journey so we can help save as many as possible.

Home.

Jasper and Lucy are both now inside, spayed/neutered and vaccinated. Blood work for Lucy was good, but for Jasper he has very low platelets, likely due to tick disease so we will treat him for that and watch him carefully.

He is adjusting slowly and still very, very scared. But each day he has grown a little more confident and those are the victories we celebrate. The small, but huge, steps.

Stay tuned. 🐾❤️

Got him.

Oh and Lucy made herself at home on our bed. On her own.

This took 2 full days, hotdogs, failed medication attempts, failed capture attempt, three dog bites, four leashes, multiple gates, one crate, one wheelbarrow, and an enormous amount of tenacity and patience.

Now for the real work to begin. Jasper needs to be neutered and vaccinated. We desperately need donations. Please consider helping. This has been an incredible undertaking and we could use the support and help from all of you that have followed these guys.

Thank you so much in advance. ❤️🐾

Milos and I have had a busy morning. We finally were able to bring Lucy, one of the feral Goldens, to the vet. She got her very first checkup, set of vaccines and will get spayed tomorrow. She did better than expected but was still extremely scared. Thank you to Animal Medical Center for being so accommodating. If anyone can donate to her medical care we would greatly appreciate it. We are donation based and at this point could use the help.

Jasper is up next!!

Update: still looking for donations!! Anything helps.

Hey everyone! Desert Willow Ranch, Rescue, & Rehab is still working on helping dogs here in West Texas before we go. Meet Howie (saved from EU) and Brutus (taken off the streets). Both are getting neutered next week and Brutus also needs his tail amputated due to an ongoing infection. Howie will stay in Lubbock with Brooklyn (and needs a forever home) and Brutus will come up with us.

We run on donations and your support has been so instrumental in helping these pups. If anyone can help donate to their neuter we would greatly appreciate it.

Pay pal or Venmo is accepted or you can call Animal Medical Center and donate under Desert Willow.

Thank you!!! ❤️🐾

PayPal link and Venmo link are in the comments.

It is with deep sadness and excitement that I am announcing that Desert Willow will be moving from Lubbock and establishing our main branch in Madison, Wisconsin. While this move was NOT planned at Desert Willows inception it has become necessary. We have recently purchased a beautiful, green, tree covered piece of property that will serve as the new home for all of the animals that need our help. However, given the tremendous need down here in Lubbock and West Texas, we will also be establishing a branch of Desert Willow here. Those plans are in the works so please be patient with us. Our current dogs will be taken care of but we will not be taking in any more animals at this time until we are established. Please stay tuned for updates.

We want to thank you all of you for your continued support. The animals that we have saved have been a community effort and we could not have done it without you. While this is not goodbye, this is a big change. We will miss you all sincerely and want very much to continue the work that we started. The animals and community of West Texas deserve that.

Emma came to Desert Willow from Littlefield with the caveat that she was aggressive towards other dogs. Knowing this, we kept her separate in her own enclosure but with little bits of socialization here and there, hoping that it was a trait we could train out of her. Dog aggression can be real, but usually it’s only fear and we feel strongly that it can be fixed.

Apparently it was and she found friends 🙂 we will take some credit for this, but she did this mostly on her own.

Welcome to a better life Emma where you’re not alone. ❤️🐾

This is the power of rescue.

A lot of you know Orianna and her story. She has been my passion project for a few years now. She went from severe neglect, abuse and starvation to where she couldn’t hold her head up to being a model in a photo shoot, holding her head high with Justine and her fiancé. She has had some behavior quirks (kicking, biting) and that has been an issue but she has come such a long way to where she happily poses with people she doesn’t know. I am immensely proud of this girl and her journey. Rescue is beautiful. Give it a chance.

Thank you to Angie Pack Alspaugh and Ashleigh Marzak for their incredible help in her journey. It takes a village. ❤️🧲

McKenzie made it to the vet today! We took a week to help her decompress and felt like today was the day! She is negative for tick disease and heartworm (hoorah). She is underweight but eating well so she will plump right up in no time! Thank you to all who donated towards her care!! Next week she will be spayed so stay tuned 🐾❤️
