Desert Willow Ranch, Rescue, & Rehab Desert Willow Ranch and Rescue is a sanctuary for lost, abandoned, sick and traumatized animals. Hi! We currently live with 7 cats, 10 dogs and 6 horses.

My name is Andrea and I am the founder of Desert Willow Ranch and Rescue. I started taking in animals after 9/11 in NYC when so many were left homeless due to the obvious disaster that took place. Since then, I have taken in cats, dogs, mice, birds and now horses. All of them come from either a situation of neglect, abuse or abandonment and my husband and I have provided a loving home for them all

. This rescue is being established to take in even more and be able to rehabilitate them, provide education to the community and start a program for animal-human therapy. Please join me on my journey so we can help save as many as possible.

Last weekend Desert Willow had the incredible fortune of having Tami and Jeff Owen with their family and friends come out and winterize the dogs enclosures. It was a huge undertaking but they did it with such grace. Now the dogs have a warm and comfortable place to call home while they await their forever home.

The last video you will see Emma thanking her heroes. It’s so heartwarming. From dog fighting to peace, she’s a lucky girl.

Enormous thank you from Desert Willow to the Owen family. This means the world to us.

There are lots of things to do at Desert Willow to make it a perfect temporary home for the critters we take in. From cleaning out the barn so the horses have a cozy place to sleep, to building dog houses, to snuggles and even taking photos! We always need help for something around here. We also always need fosters and monetary donations for those inevitable but unexpected trips to the vet.

Reach out if you want to help!!

Thank you to all those who already have made it special 🙂

Desert Willow is hiring again!! We are expanding and looking for more help. We need someone who can care for rescue dogs and horses on a part time basis. Would love someone with experience with rescue dogs and horses but if not, as long as you have patience, passion and dedication, we can teach anything.

The job involves lots of walking regardless of the weather (dogs need exercise) and you don’t always go home clean, but you get be covered in love and kisses and be a part of their heartwarming stories. Come join our crew!!

PM for more details or email me at [email protected]

We are located in Oregon, Wisconsin.

Everyone, meet Brutus!! This is a 4-5 yo male bully mix who has been through WAY too much in his life.

He came to Desert Willow a few months ago from a woman who found him wandering the streets in Lubbock, Texas. When found, he had part of his nose missing, his tail and a strange mass on is abdomen. We took him in after we found a foster who could care for him (Torie Rios). His first vet visit indicated that he had severe tick disease, severe anemia, dehydration and a likely infected tail stump. Through the right care this was all treated and Brutus did well.

He came to DW at that point in Texas and was adopted out to a loving family. Tragically, he was hit by a car and sustained a severe fracture of his pelvis (shown below). The family who adopted him could not undertake the medical expenses so DW took him back under our care and got him the care he needed. He was again taken in by Torie as a foster while he recuperated. We were told he would likely never be able to walk again and may need medical euthanasia. We were all heartbroken, but were not ready for the decision yet. And either was Brutus.

Like most dogs I know, they have a different plan and love to prove you wrong when given the chance and that's what we did, gave him a chance.

Brutus not only walks, but plays, smiles and will lick your face off. He has made a full recovery WITHOUT surgery and is ready for his forever home. Thank you Torie for your outstanding care.

He is extremely sweet, friendly, loves dogs and children and just about everyone he meets. He is calm and loyal and deserves the absolute best home. He is neutered, vaccinated and microchipped. Brutus is currently in Texas, but will be moving up to Wisconsin to take his place at our ranch at Desert Willow. Please reach out if interested in meeting him. You will not be disappointed.
