Last week for orders - last delivery will be Wednesday 20th July!

10/04/2022

! IMPORTANT UPDATE - PLEASE READ !

I will be graduating vet school soon 🥳 but that means I will be moving away this summer 😢

I will be suspending all deliveries officially from 20th July. I will be sad to say goodbye to my small group of lovely customers (and their owners 😉) who I have really enjoyed meeting over the last few years. I would likely still be able to post my food in the future once I have settled in a job, if people would be interested, though postage is fairly expensive.

For now I would recommend ordering in advance as it may be up to 2 weeks before I can deliver during the next few months, but I will do my best to provide the same service.

For the time being I am also going to have to increase my prices a bit - mostly due to fuel prices, but also as my time is becoming very valuable at the moment. It’s not a huge hike so I hope you understand.

Delivery:
- Within 5 miles of Loanhead delivery is included
- Between 5-8 miles it will now cost an extra £2 per delivery

New Prices:
- 1kg: £8
- 2kg: £14
- 3kg: £20
- 4kg: £25
- 5kg: £30
- 10kg: £57

Best wishes from me and my two remaining girls Willow and Bramble, who themselves are getting old!

If you’ve made it this far in this long post - I am on the search for a suitable mischief to rehome my girls into so that one will never be alone as I do not plan on getting more rats for a while until I am more settled. So if anyone is interested or knows of anyone please do let me know!

! PRICE UPDATE !

I am moving flats and so will need to adjust my delivery costs:

- Within 5 miles of Loanhead (including Blackford, Oxgangs, Dalkeith, Penicuik) is included in the price of the food listed below.
- Between 5-8 miles (Musselburgh, Leith, Granton) it will cost an extra £1 per delivery.

Prices:
- 1kg: £6.50
- 2kg: £12
- 3kg: £17.50
- 4kg: £23
- 5kg: £28
- 10kg: £55

Below is an updated list of typical ingredients in my mix. Please note these may occassionally vary depending on availability.
The most notable addition is flaked barley as part of the base, a great choice of grain for rats - less harsh on the kidneys than wheat or oats, and helps reduce the amount of sugar in the mix coming from other bases like the banana brunch. I have also added a small amount of a pygmy goat feed to the recipe for extra variety.

Ingredients:
• Harrison’s Banana Brunch
• Wilko’s Pea Feast
• Allen & Page Pygmy Goat Mix
• Flaked Barley
• Rice puffs
• Cornflakes
• Pasta
• Rice
• Tails dog food (incl. chicken, salmon, maize and rice, no wheat)
• Buckton’s wild bird seed mix (wheat, maize, sunflower, dari, millet, safflower)
• Rosewood Naturals Herbs Plus
• Dehydrated veg - varies from batch to batch, e.g. courgette, squash, spinach, kale, peppers, aubergine, carrots, parsnips, peas, corn, etc.
• Barley rings

Recommendations:
• Approx. 15-20g per rat per day
• Supplement with CaCuD3 or Dr Squiggles
• Suitable for all ages, especially older rats due to low protein, low wheat and a good amount of fat so it is kind on kidneys and good for those needing some help with weight and coat condition. Young, growing rats would benefit from extra protein which I can add on an individual basis.
• I recommend scatter feeding this mix to reduce selective feeding and provide enrichment and an opportunity to express natural foraging behaviour

~New Mix and Possibility of Posting Food!~

Hi everyone, I'm back in Edinburgh now and able to deliver food again 🤩🥳 I've had the dehydrator going making some dried aubergine, kale, carrot, green beans, peas and corn and am excited to get out meeting you lovely rat owners again!

I am going to offer 2 different mixes in the future since so many rats (including my own) seem to dislike and leave out the D&H base mix! So I've ordered a load of Harrison's Banana Brunch which my girls love and should be a more firm favourite with everyone. This mix will be at an increased price of £6.50 for 1kg with discounts the more you order as always. The original mix won't change price. I'm waiting on the HBB to be delivered from rat rations which might be a while, so I will update and give a full price list when that is ready, but feel free to get in touch sooner if you are interested 😊

I would also like to ask that you let me know what age your rats are so I can make your mix as tailored to their needs as possible. For oldies that means lower protein and reduced wheat and oats to reduce the burden on the kidneys, and increased fat to help keep weight up and keep the coat in good condition. And for youngsters a little extra protein can help with growth.

I have also been asked about posting my mix which is something I'm willing to try. For this I would charge the postage exactly as I pay for it with Royal Mail. So for example with the original mix 2kg posted 2nd class would be £10.70, and 5kg would be £25. Happy to ship first class in the same way with buyer paying postage. Will be packaged securely in reused materials where possible ❤🌿

Stay safe ❤🐭

I have plenty of food all ready to go out to hungry rats! Check out my reviews for some happy rattie clients (incl cute pictures 😍).

I will be adapting the base part of the mix by adding some Harrison’s Banana Brunch, as I’ve had some feedback (including from my own girls) that part of the Dodson & Horrell mix isn’t their favourite.

I can also make up batches with, for example, higher protein if anyone has young growing rats, or if you don’t think the current recipe is suitable for you and your rats. Get in touch as I can customise it for you 😊

As well as my handmade mix (see last post) I can deliver bales of bedmax for £12 with a food order or £15 on its own (the difference is for fuel cost which is otherwise accounted for in the food price) 🐀💕

New mix!
1kg for £4
3kg for £11
5kg for £16
I recommend feeding 15-20g per rat per day. Therefore as an example 1kg should last 2 rats around a month.

Includes delivery within 5 miles of Blackford, Edinburgh (of further if I happen to be going that way). Further delivery will cost more or can make other arrangements for pick up, etc!

In an effort to reduce waste plastic and keep costs low I can either deliver to you in my own tub and transfer it over (preferred) or I will reuse packaging that I have.

Send me a message 😊
