Our Story
Hello and welcome to our page! I am so happy you found our page and I hope you enjoy it as much as we do!
So I wanted to introduce the masterminds behind Wicked Mutts Design this way you get to know us a little more! My name is Samantha and I am the founder of Wicked Mutts Design. I am also the one creating all of the content. A quick backstory, I graduated from Rider University with my bachelors degree in criminal justice in 2018 and was enormously pregnant with my son at the time. So this meant that I was not working for quite some time. I had always loved crafting so I wanted to create a space where I could show off those little projects I was doing here and there. Well life got busy as it always does when you have a little one and then I started working full time at a local daycare. The crafting soon became a distant thought. It was not until about July of 2019 that I was finally able to craft again. I started making more content and people were willing to buy it which is why I started this little business.
Where did Wicked Mutts Design come from? Well I originally had this huge plan where I would start making animal products because I already had a huge fan base from my dogs Instagram page. I wanted to make collars, bandannas and treat jars. All the things you need to spoil a dog.... however, I can’t really sew or create collars well, so I went to mugs instead. I wanted to keep the puppers involved still and that is when Wicked Mutts was created. My dogs are BAD! We have three mutts, all adopted and they are still very much in the puppy learning stage. Wicked was the perfect way to describe my three mutts! Let me briefly introduce those silly goofs!
Lyla- She was our first pup we got. We moved into our house in December of 2017 and we got Lyla as a 8 week old puppy right before the move. At the time, I was about 6 months pregnant with my son so of course a puppy was the perfect idea. Lyla is a German shepherd mix and she is a ball of energy and anxiety. She has to be given calming pills when taken out of the house or else she gets too worked up. She loves people and other dogs so so much but anytime she tries to show it, she looks like a ferocious beast ready to eat your face off. Her favorite things to do are bathe, drink out of the toilet, bark at literally any sound and any person, and lastly jump on you constantly.
Ollivander- We rescued Ollivander in October of 2018 and at the time he was 2.5 years old. He just turned 4 in February! Ollie is a Pomeranian mix and his adoption was a surprise to the whole family. My husband and I frequently go to the animal shelter to “look” and play with the animals there for a little pick me up. Well we were discussing the idea of getting another dog and when we agreed to go “look” I already had a dog in mind that I was interested in. She was an 8 month old Pitbull puppy named Bella and she was HUGE! However, by the time we had gotten there she was already in the process of being adopted. I did what any person would and went searching for another dog, and in my search I came across Ollie. He was standing in the cage “praying” at me to pet him. I fell in love instantly and ripped the paperwork down to start the adoption process. A week later, Lyla met him and they hated each other. It took them 30 minutes to finally stop barking at one another and they finally agreed that he’d be fine in our household. Ollie was an unexpected addition. His favorite things to do are bark non stop, beg for food, p**p and p*e all over my house no matter how long he is outside and cuddle on the couch with us.
Elphaba- So at the time in which we decided to rescue Elphaba (my wicked witch of the west), we were actually fostering a 4 month old Pittie pup that I so desperately loved and wanted to keep. It was the week of Christmas and the husband agreed that we could get another dog. Remember, we currently have three dogs running rampant through our house. Well we made an appointment to meet this tiny little puppy with no hair. She was a mange case and came from seriously bad circumstances. She was about the size of my hand when we saw her and the hubby instantly wanted her. She took right to him so we brought her home. Now at this point we have 4 dogs in our house. With Elphie being so small in comparison to all the other dogs, we locked her in the kitchen to settle in. It really wasn’t that bad having them all in the house because they would pair up and play like that. It wasn’t until our foster left that things started turning into chaos. So when we adopted Elphie they told us she would be a Dachshund Chihuahua mix, no bigger than 15-20 Ibs. Well let me tell you, they lied. This fool is 45 Ibs and as tall as my German Shepherd mix. Much larger than we expected however, she fits in quite well. Her favorite things to do are get tortured by my son, eat my clothes and any food she can find in the house, chew up every single toy in the house and eat my trim when left alone. Oh yeah that’s a fun bonus to all the dogs... they all have serious separation anxiety too!!!
Sorry that was way longer than I wanted but it’s so hard to cram three huge personalities into such small paragraphs!!! So the last two people I want to introduce are my husband and my son. My husband, Chris, is a police officer and makes sure to let me worry as much as humanly possible about him every time he leaves the house. We have been together since high school and have grown so much together. He is the love of my life even though he can be an apple a lot of the times (joking). Nate is my almost two year old son who likes to drive me crazy all day long. He is a biter and was actually suspended from his daycare for it which resulted in moving him to a new daycare (oh and he was only a year old at the time so yeahhhh). He is the light of my life and is the biggest reason I want to work so hard on this little business. I want to be able to give him everything I had when I was younger and more.
So there you have it. A little background on why this little shop has been created and why I will work my hardest to make sure that everything I create is worth peoples time and money. I hope you love everything you see here! Have a WICKED day!
