1st day training. TEN minutes!
After a brilliant clinic with an instructor last Sunday this is the plan today.
Praise the little wins.
*Quiet walk on small circle waiting for ears forward before stopping.
*Turn on the hind without forward motion.
Blind side use your voice, gently touch where your leg would go when riding and flex her head by raising lead up.
She was not sure what to do because she couldn't understand why she couldn't see me. She got it in the end with lots of quiet praise and encouragement.
*back
*stand at rope end without trying to get in my bubble
* 'come'
And that's it.
No rush - it's about building her confidence up.
I have A LOT to learn but we'll do it together ❤️ 💯

Clayton Spirit of the Bush aka Milly is a Waler. A Waler is our iconic Australian War Horse. The breed is a mix of Thoroughbred, Arab, Timor Pony and its thought either Clydesdale or Percheron.
They have amazing endurance under stress and in extreme climates and challenging working conditions.
They were the backbone of the Second Boer War and in WW1 they were the backbone of the Australian Light Horse forces.

This journey started with an inflamed right eye. The eye had an old ulcer scar thought to be inactive as did not take up dye.
Vet saw her 4 times.
She had a course of treatment but once completed, within 2 weeks her eye was inflamed again.
Another course of treatment same outcome.
This happened once more.
The eye drop drugs over these 3 courses included antibiotics, prednisone, atropine, ibobrufren and maxidex.
She was in on oral analgesic (not bute)
She was so stoic! She must have been in so much pain.
Her eyelashes were pointing straight down to the ground on her right eye which is a protective measure for the eye. If you see this - act!
Thank goodness I did!
