Sometimes people say their dogs don’t want to work for treats.
I’d like to share my experience with you:

- I don’t feed my dogs before training sessions. We usually train in the morning, so we simply skip their morning feeding.
- I use treats that my dogs don’t get every day, such as boiled meat or cheese (they usually eat dry dog food).
- My dogs will never work for toys... but you can give it a try with yours!

It’s never too late to start your dog’s fitness journey!

Senior dogs deserve to stay healthy and active too! Just remember to watch for signs of fatigue or discomfort and adjust the exercises accordingly.

No need to rush—stay patient, and don’t forget the tasty treats! You’ll be amazed at how quickly your dog picks it up 😉

Some people say that DogFitness is too much and not really useful. They think it’s just a waste of time.

But come on! You’re spending time with your dog, learning new things together, laughing, enjoying yourselves, and helping each other stay active. I think it’s totally worth it!

I really love treats—and so do our dogs!
That’s why I always use plenty of tasty rewards during our training sessions. Your dog deserves a ‘salary’ for all their hard work, right? It’s only fair, don’t you agree?

So please, don’t be stingy!
Fitness can be challenging, and you want your dog to enjoy the process and look forward to the next session!

Every dog has their own favorite ‘exercises.’
Here are ours:
Juno’s favorite? Sleeping on the sofa! Honestly, sometimes it’s a real challenge to wake her up.

Timon loves to sit and stare at you while you eat.

And Ayumi? She’s always giving a paw for treats—whether you’re ready for it or not!

What’s essential during dog fitness training?

Here are three key things to keep in mind:

💥Avoid slippery surfaces—always! Slippery areas can be dangerous for your dog, as any unexpected movement might lead to serious injury.
💥Watch for signs of fatigue. If your dog starts making mistakes or refuses to continue, that’s your cue to stop. Training shouldn’t push your dog to exhaustion—it’s better to end on a positive note!
💥Keep fresh water available throughout the session. It might seem obvious, but it’s incredibly important to ensure your dog stays hydrated.

And most importantly, enjoy the process and don’t forget to praise your dog after every success!

Three things I’ve learned during our training session:

Simple exercises can be more complicated than they seem. For example, standing still. It might look easy, but for your dog, holding this position is not so simple.

If your dog starts making mistakes during an exercise, it usually means they are tired. I’d say it’s the first sign of fatigue.

It’s okay to stop the exercise if you see that your dog isn’t getting it. Just pause and try again next time. You might also want to rethink how you’re explaining it to your dog. Step by step, we’ll achieve success! 💪

Our 3 Main Rules in Dog Fitness

1️⃣ It’s okay to take a step back
If your dog is struggling with an exercise, no worries! I always find alternative ways to adjust the exercise when things aren’t working. Can’t stand on a donut today? No problem! We’ll try something familiar and gradually work up to it.

2️⃣ Always end on a positive note
We wrap up each session with something easy and fun that your dog can confidently do. It boosts their confidence, which is key in dog fitness!

3️⃣ Finish while your dog still has energy to keep going
End the session when your dog can still perform exercises, even after working hard. This way, they’ll stay motivated for the next training, and it won’t feel like something exhausting or unpleasant 💪

Do you know the secret to a successful training session?
It’s simple – tasty treats! Lots of them.

For your dog to perform difficult exercises, they need to be motivated, and most dogs are motivated by food. Fitness can be tough, so it’s important to understand that there’s no room for punishment during training. Instead, reward the right behavior with praise and treats, and just ignore (meaning no treats!) the wrong behavior.

And one more thing: no one wants to work without getting paid, right? Your dog is no different! 😉

5 Fun Facts About Our Fitness Crew

1. Juno loves food so much that she often doesn’t hear or understand which exercise she’s supposed to do if she sees a treat in my hand.

2. Timon, before mastering any new equipment, will spend a long time observing it and testing it out with one paw.

3. Ayumi, whenever she’s unsure of what to do, will always offer her paw. No matter the situation.

4. All three of them will definitely take any chance they get to cheat during a workout.

5. Despite Ayumi easily mastering difficult exercises, she still hasn’t learned how to jump into the car. She always clambers in like a clumsy bear cub.
