Today — once again — about progress and practice.
It’s not easy, but we really need to learn how to compare ourselves only to our past selves.
Compare what you can do today to what you could do yesterday.

Because in dog fitness, it just doesn’t make sense to compare a Border Collie that trains five times a week… to an Akita (yes, I said it 😄).
Every dog comes with their own unique traits, starting point, and even habits.

So — be proud of every small win, every well-performed exercise 💪

I know how hard it can be to notice progress and see the results of your training.
You see your dog every day, and it might feel like nothing has changed.
That’s why recording videos can be so helpful!

One day, after a month or two, you’ll find that old video where your dog was just learning to stand on balance equipment — and when you compare it to today,
you’ll definitely realize how much progress you’ve made together!

I remember how Timon and Juno were really struggling to roll over to both sides — but now they actually enjoy it!
Or how Timon was scared of the balance donut…
And now? He feels totally comfortable and confident on it.

Progress takes time, but it’s happening — step by step, rep by rep ❤️

Did you know that mental work is much more demanding for dogs than physical activity?
Some sources even compare 15 minutes of mental work to an hour of walking!

With my own dogs, I can clearly see that they get tired much faster when we’re learning something new.

So, combine physical exercises with learning new tricks or skills — and your training session will be super effective and rewarding! 💪

I know this topic is quite complicated and controversial, so I’ll try to stay as neutral as possible.
Yes — we’re talking about feeding!

I truly believe that every dog owner wants the best for their pets and would never cause harm intentionally. That’s why we all try to find the best diet for our dogs.

But here’s the thing: what we think is best isn’t always what’s actually best for them.
I’ve heard some sad stories about growing puppies being fed only cottage cheese or just meat… and unfortunately, the results were heartbreaking.

So, what I want to say is this:
Whenever you choose a new diet for your dog, make sure it is complete and balanced.

The food should contain all the essential nutrients — vitamins, minerals (both macro and micro), and everything your dog needs to grow, move, and stay healthy.
It’s absolutely essential 😉

What treats should we use during training sessions?
There are no strict rules, I would say. The only rule I try to follow is that my dogs don’t get these treats every day. So, it’s something really tasty and special that they receive only during training.

I use boiled meat or cheese. It’s essential to find something that won’t cause digestive problems! I’ve heard stories of dogs who are huge fans of cucumbers—some would even sell their soul for a tiny piece! That’s not the case for my dogs, but maybe it is for yours!

I just want to remind you…

If you see a perfect picture or a dog flawlessly performing fitness exercises, it doesn’t mean they are unique or special. It often means they’ve been practicing for years!

So never give up, keep going, and most importantly—always praise your dog for every small but important step 👍

Did you know that one of the most non-obvious signs of fatigue is when your dog starts making mistakes during exercises? What does this mean?

It means that if your dog performs four excellent repetitions of Down to Stand, but on the fifth repetition starts making mistakes, it’s time to stop!

So, be careful and attentive during dog fitness training, and remember—your dog is hardworking and amazing!

Just a quick reminder about the number of exercise repetitions.

If your dog is a beginner, it’s perfectly fine to start with 3–5 repetitions, and 3 exercises are enough.
If your dog is at an intermediate level, aim for 5–8 repetitions and consider increasing the number of exercises to 3–5.
For advanced dogs, 5–10 repetitions are a good target, and the number of exercises can go up to 6.

This is just general guidance, and you should always adapt it to your dog’s individual needs. Be sure to stop if you notice any signs of fatigue 👌

I will never tire of repeating this phrase about dog fitness: First and foremost, you should master the basic exercises!
They are essential because they form the foundation. Only after mastering the basics can you try something more difficult and, perhaps, more exciting.

It’s just like in the human world—you can’t stand on your head during your very first yoga class! Your body needs to be prepared for it.

So, don’t skip those crucial first weeks when your dog learns to stand balanced, sit squarely, and lie down in a balanced position.

Why is there no place for punishment in dog fitness training?

The main goal of dog fitness training is to spend quality time with your dog! It should be fun, engaging, and rewarding.

During training, we often ask our dogs to perform strange and challenging tasks. Imagine their reaction if, instead of giving them tasty treats, we started shouting at them! They would begin to associate training with something negative and frightening. But we want them to look forward to our sessions, feeling excited and happy!

So, the next time you feel the urge to shout... pause and shout at yourself instead! Your dog is doing their best to make you proud ❤️
