Is this style of video helpful?

I didn’t realize how complicated it can be until I tried slowing this weave behavior down.

I was very entertained trying to slow it down with Mr Let’s GOOOOO…but I also enjoyed this last video I recorded with him ❤️

Each being is an individual.

I’ve learned this firsthand. And continue to learn it. Ever since I was a kid, I’ve wanted to live a full life-even if that meant going through difficult things. But I wanted to go through as much as I could so I would learn and be able to live the most fulfilled and overflowing life possible. My 11+ year old dog Rain was often very anxious and would stare at me like I never gave her attention (even after hours of doing things together). I had a big realization that I had actually not experienced as much “undivided attention” from my father-as a developing little mind should have. And he wasn’t a bad dad by any means. There were just 8 of us and he had a lot of things he was going through himself. Yet the result in me was still the idea of that deep connection was not necessary…even though that may be THE most important thing to embody unconditional love. What I had been doing with my dog was simply checking the boxes: playtime, walks, feeding, training-but I wasn’t feeling the connection or being truly present…and I believe she sensed that.I believe a lot of dogs can sense this. The coolest thing though, immediately after I had that realization, Rain got up from where she was (away from me), and laid down much closer. And over the next couple of weeks I intentionally put time aside to feel that connection within me, and simply appreciate how much I love her.…is she suddenly not anxious? Nope. But she is significantly more relaxed overall. She seems more peaceful. And I feel more gratitude for this incredible being who has been with me through so much. I think this is replicable. I think we can sense the truth in this. Let me know your thoughts. This is just the first step ❤️....

Fading the lure for walking into heel with board and train Rosie.

This pup was so smart, sweet, cuddly, and the perfect level of energy. It was such a pleasure having her work with me and I think she enjoyed it as much as I did.

As trainers, we often get a lot of dogs with pretty big struggles (understandably), so when we get a dog that loves what we do just as much as we do, it’s just leaves us all around feeling beyond happy.

I love what I do even with challenging dogs. Often times, especially with challenging dogs.

But it’s super nice to have things mixed up once in a while 😊

Off to Santa Rosa & beyond with this dude!

Things are very slow for business and I desperately needed some time away to think, heal and plan.

I’ve got a few things I want to share this week, so be prepared for some interesting posts 👌🏼

Honestly, so many.

I’m going to share one very soon with you guys, that’s super unique.

But for this post, I think putting down a dog. Making that decision each time is SO hard. Weighing all the options.

But when it comes down to it for me, if their quality of life is not going to be good, then it should be done. Maybe I’m wrong, but keeping them at that point (to me) feels selfish…though I understand there are many reasons people may choose to hang on.

Each time, I am reminded the fragility of life, but also how precious it is. And just because death is a part for us all, does not mean we shouldn’t live this life as fully, expressively and authentically as possible.

What is something you had to choose and what did you learn from it?

16/09/2024

Well this could be fun…If you want to see the whole video, please check out my YouTube Aligned K9. Would mean a lot if you check it out and subscribe anyways 🙏🏼When it comes to almost any big “organized” system, and suddenly “their way is the only way and everything else is bad”-BE SUSPICIOUS.If there are situations that make you uncomfortable and want to react and attack-BE SUSPICIOUS.There is so much more going on underneath the surface of things we immediately lump as “good” or “bad”. No one wants to feel discomfort. But we all go through it. And our automatic response to suppress, ignore or run away from is not working anymore. We are inadvertently causing ourselves and others more and longer-term stress. How do we build confidence in ourselves and our dogs? By doing the same thing over and over and hoping for different results? By sticking with what we know?It is by trying something different. There is a portion in the brain called the anterior cingulate cortex (ACC). The ACC strengthens and becomes more efficient through neuroplasticity-specifically when we do challenging uncomfortable things.“Various observable changes in behavior, emotions, and cognitive abilities may occur. These include improved emotional regulation, enhanced conflict resolution, increased pain tolerance, and better decision-making abilities. People might also exhibit greater empathy and social cognition, reduced impulsive behaviours, improved attention and error detection, and changes in autonomic functions.” -Dr. Andrew HubermanWhen we face the stressors, look them in the eye, and walk through them, we reduce our long-term cortisol levels and increase our sense of overall happiness. Now if we do this for ourselves and experience the incredible benefits, why would we not allow our dogs to experience the same? No, I’m not saying throw them or you into overly stressful situations with no plan. No. Make a plan and make each step attainable. But don’t hide them away and keep the amazing potential for fulfillment from them. We all deserve to live to our fullest and most authentic potential.....

We need to start having conversations and stop attacking anyone who thinks differently than us.If we want to get better at anything, or learn something new, we are going to be confronted by things we don’t understand. And oftentimes, things we don’t like. But if we stick to our current tribe only to attack all new ones, we will never advance together and only stay stuck in the comfortability that is our limitation. Two things I noticed in the “cult” I grew up in: 1) I noticed that people would preach love and kindness, yet hypocritically judge and condemn anyone who didn’t do exactly as they thought should be done. 2) They kept trying to put God in a box (limiting a higher power/potential-my understanding was them saying “everyone and everything does exactly and only these things-nothing more” But as living reasoning creatures, we are meant to grow, learn, adapt and expand.I personally don’t want to live a little comfortable life. Sure I like comfort. Of course I appreciate familiarity. But I want to be more full of life and love and to be learning new things regularly. I want to live my life as fully as possible. If there is something I don’t understand, that makes me uncomfortable, I try to understand why. If that thing has the potential to even teach me a nugget of information that I can then use to help my relationship with my dog or others-I will gladly step into the discomfort. How much more beautiful would this world be if we had conversations to learn instead of to shut each other down-without ever really fully understanding their side?.... +

This amazing dog is available.

For those of you who know my journey with Tyson Fury, you already understand how hard finally coming to this decision has been for me.

For those of you who don’t know: I managed a small rescue, he was one of the dogs I took in, having a special place in my heart for bulldogs & pits.

The plan never was to keep him as I had recently gotten my Malinois to be a working dog. But life happened and I couldn’t work my Malinois, wanted to continue learning PSA, and I had a feeling this guy would be good at it. He was.

Since that time, he has come SO far. I am planning on trialing him for his PDC end of September. But I’m looking for the ideal home for him now.

As I value being honest and showing all the things, I’ll tell you the truth: while this dog is HANDS DOWN the smartest Bully I’ve ever worked, I simply haven’t bonded to him as I feel I should.

It’s very weird, I’ve never had a dog I couldn’t bond with, but I do think the other parts are that: I never wanted 3 dogs, and having a high-drive, super intelligent additional dog, while trying to grow a business is very taxing. And it’s not fair to him. He has so freaking much potential.

With the right person, I honestly think this dog could make it to the 3’s in PSA.

This guy is VERY intelligent, loves to work, loves to think (NEEDS to think), hits like a bolder (I have decoy references 😂), and will quite literally go until he passes out.

He is absolutely phenomenal with Stryker (male fixed Malinois) and Rain, but if you have another male dog, the intro process must be incredibly slow.

He will not go to a home with small dogs. His prey drive is too high.

Ideal home:
Working, PSA, or some very physical regular outlet.
Someone who has experience with the breed.
Someone who has time for him.
Ideally only owns large female dogs, or is willing to be very patient with introducing him to a large male dog (he is 55 dense pounds), or who has no other dogs.
Ideally a guy (I know this is weird, but he seems to REALLY like dudes more than women, though he’s super over the top friendly with people).
