I utilize my herbs and h**p to make various handmade lotions, potions, body butters, and candles. I’ve been gardening since I was a young girl alongside my grandmother and have been a landscaper/horticulturist for nearly 15 years. My education includes Environmental Science, Applied Ecology, Botany, and Traditional Ecology Knowledge. I took a special interest in Iroquois cultural botany which focu
sed on medicinal plants. I use naturally derived, organic, or plant based ingredients in all of my products. My products have a 6-12 month shelf life because of the natural and chemical free ingredients that do not contain harsh additives and preservatives. I use proprietary blends of organic coconut, avocado, almond, and olive oils combined with cocoa, shea, h**p, mango, and avocado butters as a base to most of my skin care products. We grow our own food to nourish our body from the inside out. We use organic and chemical free farming practices and use native vegetation, lady bugs, and mantises as pest control to avoid chemical pesticides on our food and herbs. We use organic fertilizer and compost on our vegetables and h**p to optimize nutrient content and boost growth. We process and preserve our harvests by canning, dehydrating, freezing, hang drying, and curing. The dried herbs are used to make tinctures, oils, or added to hand poured soaps. I use earth derived eco micas and eco-glitter to add color to my soaps and candles. I use essential oils to add scent to a majority of my soaps, soaks, and scrubs but do add plant based fragrances to my candles, lotions, and body butters. I am aware of how sensitive our skin can be and my family and I suffer from allergies, which is why I wanted to start making my own healthcare products. I try to make all of my skincare products hypoallergenic, gluten, and dairy free and ingredients are provided. Our skin is the human body’s largest organ, we should nourish it with only the finest quality ingredients and protect it from free radicals, toxins, and endocrine disrupting chemicals.
