Dr. Reed graduated veterinary school at the culturally rich and illustrious Tuskegee College of Veterinary Medicine in 2018. Dr. Andralika's professional interests include clinical pathology and internal medicine.

Itโs important that you understand that as professionals we can tell when an animal is getting too stressed out and this can affect future appointments and have lasting consequences.
Man handling etc can also lead to heightened anxiety at future vet visits. This can get worse throughout life.

Dental Disease is a a very preventable disease that occurs a lot in small animals. When periodontal dz is advanced, it is very painful for your pet. Imagine when you have a painful tooth.
This disease can also lead to tooth root abscesses (very serious life threatening disease) and some studies suggest mitral valve issues with bacterial translocation. Dental dz can affect the overall health of your pet.
Daily brushing and yearly dentals are recommended by the WSAVA. Small breed dogs do tend to get advanced disease faster due to the size/ surface area ratio. Ora vet chews and greenies also can help keep tartar down. There are also science diets specifically for pets that tend to build up tartar quickly.
