Poor Kyah is in for a grass seed removal today… in her thigh, of all places. Unfortunately it’s that time of year, and with so much rain, the seeds are prolific. This is our first ever incident with a grass seed and my best bet is that she sat on it and it went straight in. Luckily she’s tough as nails and not bothered at all; she’ll be in and out of surgery in no time ❤️

After massive storms here in Adelaide the other day, there are trees and branches down everywhere. The easy way to approach this issue would be to walk around them, but Kyah doesn’t do ‘easy’. Kyah tells me to stop being lazy and makes me walk over them 🤣

Been a wee bit lousy at updating this page, but a few weeks ago Arrow passed two more elements for his bronze Nosework title - now all he has to pass is a container search and he will have his bronze title! Unfortunately the trialling season is over for the year but we will continue to practice and can’t wait to get that last pass next year 😀

I’d like you to all rest assured that the Queen is, in fact, still alive and well, currently judging me from her throne. She is somewhat disturbed (and maybe a little touched, under the harsh exterior) by the sudden outpouring of love for her, but has requested, for those who truly want to show their devotion, gifts of snacks and tuggy toys instead of flowers. Or she’ll poop on your lawn. 🤷🏼‍♀️

Kyah and I are working hard on her dog reactive. We spent some time yesterday just watching the world; some of that world included a bulldog, a German shepherd, and a dog barking behind a fence. I supported Kyah through her feelings and ensured she stayed far enough away to stay under threshold, and she rocked it! In this video she is watching the bulldog whilst the GSD passed to our right, and being reinforced for checking in with me and not escalating her behaviour/emotional response. I love watching her make good choices in tough situations. Superstar 🌟

I forgot to share a very important piece of information. Arrow passed his bronze vehicle search for noseworks over the weekend! I let the poor bloke down on his interior search by calling his alert too early, so we still have three elements to go until we receive our bronze title, but most importantly, Arrow walked into the search area with confidence and he had a lot of fun in a challenging environment, and I couldn’t be prouder of that! 🥇

Kyah had a maintenance tune-up from Daniella at Holistic Dog, including a massage and thermal imaging to check for inflammation. She has a bit of a knot in her left shoulder and some muscular discomfort in her hind leg that we will keep an eye on. As a senior active dog, I’m very careful about her joint maintenance and physical health. Meanwhile, Arrow had major FOMO and tried reaaaally hard to be in the limelight 🙄 thanks for your wonderful, thorough work as always, Daniella!

Arrow tried some noseworks at our local PETstock store last night, in preparation for his first trial this weekend. Arrow struggles in new surroundings and busy places so I wasn’t sure if he would be okay to search, but once he knew he was there to play the sniffing game, everything was alright! He did awesome ❤️
