How can anyone say they don't like spiders when they look so pretty close up?! Yes I didn't get everything in focus, but that was old me, new me will take less precautions! Yes! That is the moral of this story! I don't know, let's just rejoice that some sort of posting has resumed! And with the speed of these non theraphosidae mygalomorphs it's a surprise I got anything at all!

Yeah, well, surely you just pumped the colours and left it at that, this spider can't look like that! Well... They Do and It Be! This absolutely stunning beauty is such a treasure, and was so well behaved during the entire shooting process! Normally they can be a bit skittish at this age especially with a scary thing like a camera in their face, however this one was more intrigued and stuck around! Most likely not as cooperative when they're older, so get them while I can!

Why are wolf spiders just so gosh darn cute?! Fun fact, the blue in the eye shows up in every picture and video and as such, isn't a misadventure in colour editing, it is in fact, a wonderful example of how blue eyes people present themselves

I guess it's time to start picking up the camera again, and what better model to do that with than this absolutely stunning Hogna! Now, something which I'm sure to be corrected quickly if I am wrong, but we know this is a female because of the red patches to the sides of the "mouth." Anyway, I digress, I love getting shots of all these different eye formations, and the Hogna miami is definitely an iconic one!

Ma'am! Who did your make up? It's wonderf...oh, she teleported away!
The hierarchy of "fear" of this spider goes, 4. The Spider Themselves 3 .The Venom 2. The Speed 1. The Common Name!
The spider themselves is gorgeous, beautiful colouration and markings, stunning fangs, and an eye formation that gives them the most docile puppy dog face! The venoms next, of course, everyone reacts differently, what may be small to one person may be a life and death for someone else so please always take this into consideration! However from bite reports, it's slightly worse than a bee sting with no lasting effects. Next is the speed! Boy howdy, an actual reason for the heart rate to increase! They are the definition of speed! Literal teleportation, and the fear is instinctive for myself as it's a huge drive to overcome this when trying to safely and calmly place a lid onto a container when this one is making a break for freedom! Luckily she hasn't tried it since settling into her new home, but it's always in the back of my mind, her true final form potential! And finally, the true reason this spider scares me, actually, bar the speed, really the only reason, and that's the quite frankly stupid link my brain has when it see's the words, "wandering spider." I KNOW that I *should* be fine if I get bitten, however it won't stop that little voice in the back of my head about the "before I kept spiders" knowledge 😂

Oh, well hello Ma'am, what a beautiful moustache and beard you have! And what large eyes too! The evolutionary variety that spiders provide is extraordinary, and to say I'm addicted to these web slinging masters, and I can't wait for them to grow so I can get a more personally satisfying macro shot of her!

Can't wait for these ones to get some size to them! I cannot hold my excitement to get that classic shot, well, this classic shot, but bigger, and closer, and more! Huge thanks to for the opportunity to shoot them, and to for pointing them out! Can always rely on these two amazing people to make some of my macro and keeping dreams a reality!

So Smoll, Such Bean! They survive in the wild by utilising little puppy dog eyes to avoid predation, and just asking prey nicely to get in their mouths. It's a unique survival method, but it seemingly works

She's acclimatising to her new home well, a nano exo until she gets enough size to fend for herself in the corner of the room! Literally everyone I have told this has had a minor meltdown and expressed how much they think it's a bad idea, however everyone that knows the genus has gone, "Yeah, that makes sense!" See, Nephilia and Trichonephilia only really want to be on their webs, so having a hula hoop set up where she sets up anchors across it should result in her staying there until her eventual death. There's no reason for her to explore the house when the incredible security, and endless food that the web supplies are so great! So why not have a little free roam spider bro?!

The more work into phylogenetics, the more I wanted to get my hands on one of these, the most basal of all spiders! I could go into it more, but todays taken it out of me, enjoy the last you'll see of this beast out of their burrow, until they pop out again, it's farewell from this one!
