Attention!!! 11 Yr Old Female Husky needs a special loving home - owners are moving to Japan - only qualified homes considered - only serious inquiries only and please send them to the owners directly = Kyle Napier
We are moving overseas to Japan. The living conditions we will have there and the strict rabies prevention policies prevent us from taking our dog, Sashka, with us, and we're looking for someone to take her. We are looking for a loving home before we leave the first week of August. We currently live just north of Austin, TX, and are not able to drive too far.
Here’s some important information before you make a decision:
- She's an inside dog. She usually wants back in soon after she goes out to do her business, but she is content to spend more time outside if you or other dogs are out there with her.
- She's getting up there in age--she just turned 11, but she's still got a playful side and will go for a walk/run/ride as long as you're willing to go. The only health concerns are her hips/hind legs are a bit sensitive from developing hip dysplasia, and she's got a bit of calcium buildup in her eyes, so they're a tiny bit cloudy--but not impairing her vision. There’s the occasional day when she gets an upset stomach and she doesn't want to eat, but she's usually back to normal that evening or the very next day. Other than that, she's a healthy, fit husky.
- Like almost all huskies, she doesn't bark at people. She only barks in how I've trained her: to ask to come back inside or just on command. She does “talk” to you when she’s hungry or wants to play.
- She is great with all people and animals! She's NEVER bitten anyone or any other animal. She'll make a fuss if someone gets near her food or her bone, but she never bites, even when our 2-yr-old daughter has messed with her. She will even let go of her bone if you tell her to.
- We have a cat, and Sashka gets along great with her.
- She's well trained. Sashka knows to stay relatively close when off a leash and to come when commanded.
- The only problem I see her possibly creating is with other dogs. Sashka isn't violent by any means--she's just overly friendly. In fact, she thinks that anything that moves is a potential friend. I didn't train her to interact with other dogs. During play time I'd wrestle with her, so she learned to put her paw on another person/animal to play with them. Other dogs see this as domination and can get upset when she does this to them. I believe with training this is something that can be fixed.
Overall, she is a sweet girl that loves company! If you’re interested, please send me a message. We want her to spend the last few years of her life in a home that’s as warm and loving as we’ve tried to give her!
