Canine Influenza is on the rise in California. Any dog who is social with other dogs, is boarded, goes to the groomer or dog parks should be vaccinated against this virus.

Dermatology case! The arrow is pointing to intracellular cocci (round bacteria) in a type of white blood cell called a neutrophil. This was collected from a swab of a nail bed infection in a Shar pei. The dog was placed on an appropriate antibiotic and Apoquel to help with inflammation. We will recheck his paw in 2 weeks to ensure the infection has completely resolved, and the treatment can be discontinued.

My Mia had surgery today to remove 2 masses in her mouth. We also x-rayed her teeth and cleaned them- and trimmed her nails of course! We are sending her masses out for histopathology to determine what they are 🤞🏼 She is recovering well 🥰 @ San Francisco, California

Veterinary acupuncture has so many therapeutic benefits. There are 3 forms of acupuncture used in pets: electro acupuncture, aqua acupuncture and the traditional dry needle acupuncture. Which method is used depends on what disease is being treated, and how the patient tolerates the treatment. Here are a few patients during their treatments. This was a week of many firsts. It was my first time trying out the Calm and Cozy cat wrap! I was able to collect a blood sample and trim nails with minimal restraint, low stress and no tech! Unheard of! Mimi, Fred and sweet Nevada were wonderful patients 😻
