It is so important to make sure your indoor kitty is getting plenty of exercise.
Most indoor cats on a kibble diet will end up overweight.
Overweight cats can end up with issues such as diabetes, heart disease and kidney disease.
The best diet for cats is high protein and low carbs. Most canned foods meet this requirement, although they are not all good quality food. Raw food is ideal for cats, but you want to be sure it is from a company that sources there ingredients humanely and from a USDA regulated human grade facility.
Dry foods are made with starch which means they will be high in carbs. They also have very little moisture, and cats tend to not drink enough water and this is how kidney issues can start.
Be sure to play with your kitty for at least an hour a day (Your dog can play too:) ). They also have plenty of interactive toys for cats if your gone for most of the day.
If your cat is sleeping most of the day, has increased thirst and urination, loosing weight, be sure to take them into the vet for a full blood panel.
