I had to post another pic of Jack and Pirate
Flea season has started and they are shedding. It's a battle every year but it's so worth it. Jack is in the front and Pirate is in the back.
Here's Morris! The wonderful people on my page picked his name last year. He is the most mellow out of all of them.
Tramp may not live a long life but he's not ready to go yet. I think some veterinarians are too quick to recommend euthanasia for stray/feral cats.
Tramp seems to be better. I have him separated in my spare bedroom. I put a screen on the door so he doesn't feel so isolated. He hisses at the other cats when they walk by his room. He is recently neutered so I hope the aggression goes away in time.
Update on Tramp. There is a sanctuary that takes cats with feline leukemia so they can live out the rest of their lives in comfort with other cats with the same disease. They told me that the leukemia test is only 60% accurate. They want me to get at least one more test before they will consider him. Here is a pic of Tramp with his curly hair. He seems much better after staying inside for a week and after having antibiotics.
The other cats want to come in but I can't let them in because I have Tramp in here.
Update on Tramp. He has tested positive for feline leukemia and FIV. There is no cure. He is highly contagious. He needs to be an indoor cat for the rest of his life. He has been inside my house for about a week. He is starting to clean himself. He seems more alert and he is eating well. I cannot let any of the other cats in while he is in. I need to find a home for him. He needs to be an only cat. He can live for several years with his condition. I am working with a non profit. I hope they can help me find a home for him so he can live out the rest of his life in comfort. He loves being inside. He loves people. He has curly hair. I've never seen a cat with curly hair before.
This is Tramp. I think he has severe gum disease. You can see how nasty his mouth is. He has trouble eating too. We have an appointment to see the vet on Wednesday. I'm going to let him stay in the house until then.
I am a little better prepared for this winter. I still need to figure out a better way to sort all these electrical wires from the heaters in the shelters.
I want to thank everyone who helped with choosing a name for this orange kitty. By far, the most suggested name was Morris. So Everybody, meet Morris. And that's Poison near him. Morris! Yay!
I need help from my followers naming this kitty. I've been trying to think of a name for him for months but nothing comes to mind. He is a healthy, strong male. He doesn't let me pet him. He is friendly to all the other cats and doesn't seem to growl or fight much. Please comment your name suggestions. Thank you ...Martha

After he freaked out because I was trying to get him in the carrier he took off down the ally. Now, Poison came back with duct tape on his fur.
Check this place out. It's part of the Ferndale Cat Shelter. They have been great help to me, giving me advice when I don't know what to do.

The Catfé Lounge has a different take on the cat cafe idea. We are part of the Ferndale Cat Shelter, a 501c3 rescue, & cats at the cafe are up for adoption..
Update on Poison. So, he is still having problems breathing. He has stopped using the little winter shelter he spent all winter in. He stays outside even in the rain. He just sits out there by himself. Sometimes he hangs his head like he's trying to sleep while still sitting up. To me, it looked like he had problems breathing laying down. So I wanted to take him back to the vet. I tried to pick him up to put him in the carrier. He totally freaked out and did this to my hand. He took off running, really fast. I have never seen him move like that. So, I guess he's getting better very slowly. So, I won't be taking him back to the vet unless he becomes unable to move again.

To my Detroit Dog Lovers! Do you want a dog but are unable to make a life long commitment? Are you concerned about the cost? This may be an answer for you. Check it out ...
A PLEA FOR THE DOGS OF OUR CITY 🤞
Unfortunately we've been having to play a lot of musical chairs with our foster dogs lately. This not only means that we are scrambling to find placement for the dogs currently in our care- but also that we are having to turn away dogs that people are contacting us about on the street.
This is not the kind of situation we want to be in! Our mission is to provide placement for dogs in our city who have no other options. But in order for us to be there for Detroit dogs in need- we need community members to open up their homes and hearts.
We try to make fostering accessible! We provide all supplies, food and medical care for your foster dog. We also are always available via phone to help our fosters navigate integrating their foster dog into their current home environment.
This is a journey we take with our fosters! You won't feel alone! But we need you in order to save more dogs!
If you believe in no-kill as a mission then that means we all have to do our part. And in our wonderful city of Detroit, the need is unfortunately greater than average.
So share this post! And if you can imagine helping, fill out an application today! Rebeldogsdetroit.com/becomeafoster
Thank you to everyone in our community who has stepped up to help in whatever way they can! We can't do this work without you!
Jack is a big male and he will attack Luna if I let him in. She is very brave when she is inside and he is outside. She is tiny and she attacks him through the window. You can see how she has trashed the blinds.
Luna still wants to stay inside after her spay surgery. It's been a week and she has no desire to go back outside. Her belly hair is starting to grow back a little bit.
Bubby is a squirrel murderer. He is very proud of it. I'm horrified when I see him do it.
I'm doing okay feeding my colony. It costs about $18 a week to feed them all. I buy frozen chicken legs and boil up the meat for them. Other people struggle to feed their animals. All About Animals is very helpful.
Can you believe in just 2 weeks, the cat food Sidney collected in her annual For the Love of Pets drive is gone!? Many caretakers are struggling to feed cats.
It’s not too late to donate directly to All About Animals Rescue for more pets. Tell us Sidney sent you! We’ll all be grateful, especially the kitties.
You can send food directly to any of our 4 locations from places like Chewy and Amazon or stop on in!
Locations: https://allaboutanimalsrescue.org/veterinary-services/wellness-hours/
Amazon: https://www.amazon.com/hz/wishlist/ls/3TJRC4BO9KNSK?ref_=wl_share
Sidney raised over $5,000 in high demand supplies and through the years over $16,000 worth of supplies for the animals. Isn’t she amazing? Thank you Sidney!
If I get all the male cats fixed maybe female cats won't be afraid to come.
I just brought Luna home from the non-profit https://www.facebook.com/allaboutanimalsrescue . I'm still new to caring for a feral cat colony and they have been very helpful to me. They told me that Luna is about 4 years old. She is now spayed and has her shots. I still have about 10 cats to Trap, Neuter/Spay, Return. If you would like to donate my paypal is [email protected]

Luna will be going in to get spayed in the morning. She is the first one to get the trap neuter/spay release in my colony. She is easy because I can pick her up and keep her in my house I don’t have to trap her.
Please follow/like my page. I will post videos and pics of the stray/feral cats that wander into my backyard.
Here is the little shelter I made for him next to my house. Turn up the sound so you can hear his breathing. I had to get him to an emergency vet. I'm so grateful for https://www.facebook.com/FerndaleCatShelter who recommended me to an affordable vet. It was still $300. That's a lot for me. If you can chip in to off set the cost for me I would appreciate it. The fundraiser link is in the comments. Thank you to all my followers for taking an interest in my backyard feral cats.
