Update on fall classes!

We have classes starting at our new location on Lithia Springs Road in October. Registration on our website should be up next week but will be as follows:

Our fall toddler classes (ages 2-5) will be offered in two sessions both on Mondays from 9:30AM-11:30AM. Session One starts October 7th for five weeks (October 7, 14, 21, 28, and November 4). Session Two starts November 11th for five weeks (November 11, 18, 25, December 2, 9).

Our fall homeschooler classes (ages 5-12) will be offered in two sessions both on Wednesdays from 9:30AM-11:30AM. Session One starts October 9th for five weeks (October 9, 16, 23, 30, and November 6). Session Two starts November 13th for five weeks (November 13, 20, 27, December 4, 11).

Our fall future farmer class (ages 5-12) will be offered for one session on Wednesdays from 4pm-6pm. The session starts October 9th for five weeks (October 9, 16, 23, 30 and November 6). Session Two starts November 13th for five weeks (November 13, 20, 27, December 4, 11).

These are not drop off classes.

Update on Black Rock Farms…

In 2014 our family decided to make roots in the area following my husband’s retirement from the Marine Corps, and my leaving private equity employment. We both started our own businesses and over the years worked toward obtaining enough land to eventually live the farm life. In 2020 we started homeschooling our children and in 2021 finally left suburbia to start building what we hoped would be a self-sustaining and slower paced future for our family.

As part of a home-school function we visited Black Rock Farms and fell in love with the idea of giving families an opportunity to experience a farm and get more in touch with nature’s way of providing sustainability. A few months ago, my family and I had the opportunity to purchase Black Rock Farms from the prior owners who were ready for a change. We relocated the animals to our “in-progress” 22 acre farm (located on Lithia Springs Road in Lithia) in January and will resume home-school classes, farm tours, and birthday parties in the near future. We will be making some branding changes in the coming months but wanted to provide everyone an update. If you have visited Black Rock in the past, we hope to be bringing some exciting and new changes while providing the same previous opportunities for learning and hands-on animal interaction.

Once our new website is live, we will post updates, but we are planning on offering class opportunities starting in October that include: a Monday morning Toddler Class, a Wednesday morning Homeschooler Class, and Wednesday afternoon Future Farmer Class.

When not caring for our animals, I run a CPA firm and my husband runs a local live music bar and site development company. We currently have turkeys, ducks, chickens, bunnies, goats, fish, pigs, cows, dogs, and cats calling our property home. We have plans to add tortoises, donkeys, mini cows, and the list goes on… Our children (Reagan and Lincoln) are an integral part of caring for the animals and will be running a good portion of the entire operation. Our property has lots of woods with trails with four spring-fed ponds that we intend to use for fishing, recreation, and animal and land watering.

Please be patient, in addition to running our businesses, caring for the animals, and maintaining a family, we are making some exciting improvements so that our best foot is forward for the first class. We hope to meet some of you soon in the coming months.

We have eleven kune kune piglets available. Born April 8th. Seven female and four males. The males have been castrated. All have double wattles. Unregistered. UPDATE PEP- first let me say this is beyond frustrating. Everyone I talk to, tells me something new. The new thing now not only do you need to submit my sunbiz account. You also need to submit my LinkedIn, which shows how long I have taught classes. Ugh…😕
