Pooler Paws Page We are a non-profit organization helping the feral and stray cat community in Pooler, GA. All this has been possible because of your generosity.

In 2021, we spayed/neutered (Trap Neuter Vet Return, TNVR) over 130 kitties and found loving homes for another 100 through our adoption program. We also take care of injured and orphaned cats and kittens in the “cat house”, which was purchased in 2019 to serve as rescue headquarters. On top of this, every day Pooler Paws volunteers feed, vet and love over a 100 community cats at 17 different locat

ions around Savannah. We practice TNVR at all of our colonies as well as help others manage theirs. There are so many ways for you to help (adopting, fostering, volunteering, and donating) and we truly appreciate each and every effort. Monetary Donations:

May we never forget the fur babies:

FROSTY NIGHT
(Mavis Jolley)
It's evening and it's time to put my head down on my paws,
It's not the sort of night when I would venture out of doors,
From out the window I can see the garden turning white,
May Heaven help the feral cats out there on such a night!
May someone see them running across the frozen grass,
And put a little food that they might find it when they pass.
It only takes a minute and some pence to buy a tin,
And a little thought to put a box a feral can get in.
When people open doors at night, and see them scurry round,
Searching for any bits of food upon the frozen ground,
They say 'There's nothing wrong with them, they run around all right,'
But it takes a while to starve - it doesn't happen overnight.
Their silent forms slip past the door and nothing's left to see,
So who knows what they're suffering or how near death may be?
Then people say they're happy living rough. That isn't true,
They have no choice - I ought to know, for I was feral too.
For me, my luck was in; some caring folk came with a trap,
And a patient lady trained me into sitting on her lap.
At first I thought my pounding heart would burst out of my fur,
But now I love to sit there and never want to stir.
So things worked out all right for me, I'm someone's lucky pet,
But memories of the past are there and stir within me yet.
I pray before I fall asleep, beside the fire bright,
'May heaven help the feral cats out there on such a night

Time to spotlight!

Braveheart and his brothers, Freedom (also black) and Hamish (gray), are amongst the current volunteer favorites. Named for the Mel Gibson classic, Braveheart shows NO fear. He's a borderline stage 5 clinger and definitely needs another household companion (no single household pet life for him) and would love to be adopted with one of his brothers! He loves to perch on unsuspecting backs and shoulders and will curl up in any set of arms; as long as you won't feel slighted by his "love everyone" attitude, he might be the one for you! Freedom is equally sweet although not quite as "perchy", and Hamish is coming out of his shell to prove there is an absolute loverboy to rival his brothers. All 3 are neutered and vaccinated.

On the opposite end of the spectrum are Rambo and Cheerio. They adore each other and other cats. Humans are servants and thus to be tolerated. If you accept your lot in life, and are looking for a companion for your other cats (rather than yourself), we have so many great candidates for that position! Cats are not solitary creatures, and they do well in groups, just like us, so long as there aren't major personality conflicts or territorial disagreements. Bonus: Rambo is a proven hunter! We have no idea why, but mice somehow think that the availability of food in the rescue is worth the risk of being near all these cats. Rambo is the only one in recent memory worth his salt 😹

So whether you are looking to add one or a pair for your own companionship, or willing to provide a home for those in need of one who make take awhile to come around to calling you "mom" or "dad" instead of "yo, butler", message us to set up an appointment to meet some of these wonderful kitties!

Foster needed Ninjette (female) would like a foster that can dedicate the attention she needs to her. Ninjette over grooms when she feels stressed. Ninjette's previous foster passed away unexpectedly and Ninjette ended up at the cat house with us. She is VERY stressed by being back at the cat house, and thus over Grooming herself again. Ninjette is used to being in a home with multiple cats as long as she can have space to roam and remove herself from other cats if possible. Ninjette is very loving and sweet. She likes getting pets and head bumping your hand. She loves to rub against you to encourage more pets. Ninjette also is vocal and likes to tell you how she feels. Are you able to provide the foster environment described for Ninjette? She would really appreciate it. She's a chubby black cat that just wants love and attention. Meet Mama Lucy and Co! Volunteer Kim's daughter Heather noticed Lucy was a stray that was hanging around Heather's house. Heather reached out to Pooler Paws because Lucy looked like she might be pregnant. Volunteer Alisa helped Heather trap Lucy and brought her to the rescue on Monday night! 😱 Today Lucy began having her babies!! Eeek we got to her just in time. Thanks volunteer Kim for the video. When all the babies are born we will do an intro post to the kittens, with their coloring and their names. 😻 When Mama Lucy is finished weaning her babies Volunteer Kim and Heather will make sure Lucy is fixed and then take her back home. ❤️ As always, pre adoption is an option. Please remember kittens must stay with their moms for 8-12 weeks after being born. You're more than welcome to make an appointment to see these kittens. Meet Mama Cali When Mama Cali started hanging around Peggy's property, Peggy took to Nextdoor to see if anyone owned this sweet cat she has been feeding. Peggy thought Cali might be pregnant. Volunteer Alisa offered our scanner to Peggy, to see if Cali had a microchip. Cali wasn't going to wait for that nonsense and decided she'd found a safe place to have her kittens. The next day Volunteer Alisa was in a tough spot. She had picked up 3 kittens but the mama would not get in the trap. Volunteer Alisa asked Peggy if she could see if Cali would take these 3 new kittens on. She did! 😻😍 What a sweet mama. Volunteer Alisa tried scanning for the chip, but nothint popped. Once Cali is finished caring for her babies, Peggy is going to fix Cali and keep her! ❤️ Enjoy this sweet video of Cali and her kittens. There will be more pictures and stories to come about this sweet girl and her young family!

Baby Clover update! At 13 days old his eyes are finally opening! As a preemie kitten, he is still slow to put on weight. He's held steady at 95g or roughly 3.5oz for about a week. He's a good sleeper, a good eater, and a willing adventurer! Bio mom Claire is happy to see him whenever he and foster mom come by the the rescue house. But otherwise Gelato is quite the happy surrogate momma ready to give Clover a proper bath; she still fusses at foster Stephanie who can apparently do nothing right but hand him over!

Cat & Kitten Rescue

Pooler Paws INC. is a group of kind hearted, caring, generous, cat loving humans that live in the area of Pooler, GA. We are currently in the process of becoming a nonprofit organization. Our mission: TRAP. NEUTER. RETURN. We help and care for the feral cats in the area, this includes feeding, trapping, getting them spayed/neutered, transporting them, vet check ups, medication, etc. There are roughly 50 feral cats in the area and we currently have 9 members in our group. These 9 amazing humans provide their time and money to feed and check on these unfortunate cats everyday, specially during these hot summer days. The bitter part of our project is when we find sick cats that need medical attention and are suffering. If you own a pet yourself, you can imagine how costly vet bills can get.
