It's a very sad time at Patch's Sanctuary. Our beloved Sanctuary "clown" Marvin the goat has passed away. He was rushed to the vet but it was too late. Blood test results revealed he had been bitten by a snake. He will be sorely missed by both humans and his animal friends. R.I.P Marvin.😭

Marvin the goat decided he needed a higher vantage point. What else are cars for? Luckily this car is a sanctuary vehicle so Marvin won't be sued for damages.

Patch's Animal Sanctuary is now home to 50 endangered Silver Perch. This native species is on the brink of survival. The conditions at Patch's will help these little guys thrive in their natural environment and in turn they will help rid the waterways of weeds. Good look little ones. Patch's is a safe haven for all native species as well as a forever home for farm animals that have suffered trauma and abuse.

Gentle George has a tumour in his eye that keeps growing back.
He’s already had one operation but now needs another.
George is 28 years old. He would not have lived past his first birthday if he hadn’t been rescued when he was a baby.
Please help give George another chance so he can live out the rest of his life in comfort.
Being old is not easy, especially when you’re a 1000 -pound steer. George also has arthritis so he has medication and special supplements to keep him on his feet.
The last thing he needs at his age is for the cancer to spread.
George urgently needs the tumour, or his entire eye removed to make sure that doesn’t happen.
Please donate now to help poor old gentle George.

Ollie enjoying some molasses as a treat on a sunny day. ☀️

Ollie is one of our biggest cows here at Patch’s, and while his size can be intimidating at first, he has a beautiful gentle personality and also a huge sweet tooth - he’s always the first to arrive when he sees someone with a bucket of molasses. 😁

Ollie was originally destined for slaughter, but his destiny changed when he escaped before being transported, and found a safe forever home at Patch’s, where he’s able to live out his natural lifespan being cared for and never harmed.

A huge thank you to everyone who supports us through donations and sharing - your support enables us to give animals like Ollie a second chance. ❤️

Thank you to all the wonderful supporters that have donated to Shauna the sheep and her two friends. Shauna, Blackie and Luna were displaced after they nearly drowned during the NSW floods. Shauna's mother, together with four other of her family were swept away by flood waters, almost taking their owners with them. All three are gradually settling in at Patch's, helped by their new companion, a little naughty Shetland pony. Patch's would not be able to continue to give animals a home without your generous support. On behalf of all the residents at Patch's Animal Sanctuary - a big thank you.

Dear supporters of Patch’s Animal Sanctuary, it is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our Founder & CEO Brigid Beckett.
Brigid was a tireless worker for animals and she leaves a huge legacy behind.
Throughout her life as a veterinarian, she has saved so many lives, including unwanted animals that would present to her all to often for euthanasia. Many were re-homed, either at the sanctuary or with other like- minded people.
Brigid was always there to help any animal in need that presented to her. She worked as a volunteer with many organisations and animal charities and would always give her time freely.
Brigid is survived by her partner Brent and many sanctuary animal residents.
May the animal spirits that have gone before you guide you through. Rest in peace.

🐄 💚 What does a cow need for Christmas? Of course, love, care and safety...but there are other things they desperately need to stay healthy.
As we come into the scorching summer months, with torrential rain and unpredictable weather - spare a thought for animals in need like Little Moo and the entire Moo Crew... check out their wish list and click the link below to give a gift.

https://patchschristmas.raisely.com/

Here's their Christmas wish list:

1) Salt lick - perfect for all year round, but especially in the hot weather. Salt is essential to the health of cows

2) A bale of hay - YUM - especially for animals when they are unwell or undernourished.

3) Electrolyte supplement - this can be life-saving for little calves who have lost their mums.

4) Everyone loves a Back Rub especially one to control flies - what a gift - these really help the cows stay healthy and enjoy their days by keeping flies, and their germs at bay.

5) Mineral Block of Trace minerals - minerals that are needed to keep animals thriving.

6) Ah... a special brush made just for cows! Scratches their back and keeps coats nice and healthy.

TODAY is GivingTuesday ... a global movement that reimagines a world built upon shared humanity and radical generosity.

Will you help babies Miffy, Violet, Mumma Grettel and their friends?

In an ideal world, each calf would have a healthy Mum who would care for them and provide them with the milk needed to nourish them for up to two years. When a Mum looks after two calves, they all need extra support and care to stay in good health.

To make matters worse, Grettel was a rescue animal herself - arriving at Patch's Sanctuary pregnant and in poor health. Caring for one calf was going to be hard enough.

Miffy, Violet and Grettel are high needs animals - and Patch's Sanctuary can only take on these animals with your help.

Thank you to our current supporters - they could not do it without you. Please donate what you and an please share... https://sponsor.patchsanimalsanctuary.org/

These are some of our boys, George, Rahul, Nelson and Ollie, enjoying the winter sun. We are happy to be able to give them a safe home where they can hang out together and enjoy their lives. They probably don't know how lucky they are, so few male calves live past 18 months of age. But at Patch's, we aim to give them the life that they deserve.

It really is a lot of work to keep rescued animals safe, healthy and happy.. and we couldn't do it without the support of kind people like you.

We hope you enjoy this little video and get a feel for the lovely life you help create for the residents at Patch's.

Miffy was orphaned when her mother died of a mystery illness. In the days after her mother’s death, she refused to take milk from a bottle and was spending all her time looking and crying for her mum. We tried everything, but the poor little calf was so distressed we thought she would suffer the same fate as her mother.

Finally, on the fifth day, a miracle happened. Carers noticed that another cow named Gretel, was allowing Miffy to feed with her own calf, Violet.

Gretel is trying her best to make sure neither of them go hungry.

That’s why cows like Gretel need you. All this feeding is taking a huge toll on her, she now needs to be hand fed extra hay and supplements every single day to ensure both babies get enough milk to survive. Calves can nurse for years so poor Gretel has her work cut out.

With so many other animals to hand feed through the coming dry season, resources will be stretched to the limit.

Patch’s Animal Sanctuary

Patch’s Animal Sanctuary is a registered charity, a not for profit sanctuary for farm animals and wildlife, where domesticated and wild animals can live together safely and happily. Wybelena Farm was purchased specifically for Patch, but soon, others would join her.

Our cow story began with Patch. Patch was rescued when she was 6 months old on her way to the sale yards. She had survived against the odds without ever knowing her mother. It’s not possible to save all the animals from being slaughtered, but we believe that even saving one life is very significant, and worthwhile.

What We Do

We currently have 18 cows at the sanctuary who are of different ages and backgrounds. Some have been saved as young animals when they were weeks or less away from slaughter, others are old cows who have had numerous calves and would also been sent to the sale yards, being too old or in too poor a condition to raise further calves. All can now live a long and happy life free roaming.
