🚨 URGENT: Asheville Humane Society needs our help! 🚨

The catastrophic damage from Hurricane Helene has overwhelmed the Asheville Humane Society, and countless animals are in desperate need of safety. We’re partnering with BISSELL Pet Foundation to rescue as many pets as possible, but we can’t do it without your help!

We need emergency fosters to help us take in these animals! If you’ve never fostered before, that’s okay! Fostering is completely free—Forsyth Humane Society will provide you with all of the supplies you might need to help care for one of these animals. Every foster home we can secure is another life we can save! 🐾❤️

If you can step up to help us out, please email [email protected] with the subject line “Hurricane Helene Foster”, or check forsythhumane.org/foster for incoming animals. THANK YOU for your willingness to help and your dedication to animals in need. Please share this post to help us reach as many fosters as possible!

🥁🥁🥁 We are sooo impressed with all of your guesses about what is going on with Karly from last weeks Thursday trivia question. The x-rays are showing unerupted adult teeth. This most commonly occurs with the first premolars on the mandible (lower jaw) and is more common in brachycephalic (short nosed) breeds. This is the location where it is occurring in Karly. These teeth are numbered 305 and 405.

In cases where the crown does not erupt out of the bone, something called a dentigerous cyst can form. Affected animals often have no clinical signs apart from the absence of 1 or more teeth (hypodontia). This is why we highly recommend dental x-rays at the time of your pets spay or neuter if they are missing any teeth. Early surgical treatment can prevent many complications. Thanks for playing our Thursday trivia. Look for this week’s trivia question….also about Karly 🫣

Thursday Trivia Question…Some of you know Dr. Wheeler rescued a little dog named Karly last year. She was spayed today and Dr. Wheeler noticed she was missing some of her adult teeth so dental x-rays were taken. Any guesses on what these x-rays are showing? We also included the cutest picture of her, wearing her doggles during her post operative laser therapy to help with her abdominal incision and healing from her spay. 💕

It is cases like this that make it doing acupuncture so rewarding. This is Pretty Boy snoring during his fourth treatment. We were not sure if he would tolerate acupuncture as he has a history of being sensitive to needles as well as being sensitive to his hips being touched because of arthritis in them. We have taken our time getting him used to the treatments and keep lots of yummy treats on hand. He has done better and better with each treatment and is back to going on his long walks which he had not been able to do for awhile prior to starting acupuncture.
