Mission Meow Grant! 😻
We are thrilled to announce that we are proud grant recipients of $15,000 from Mission Meow Thanks to their incredible generosity, we will be installing brand-new cat condos that will drastically improve the lives of the cats in our care.
These condos will provide our cats with more space to stretch out, elevated areas to explore, and cozy cubbies for our more timid residents. The quiet-close doors will ensure a peaceful environment, perfect for helping our cats feel safe and secure.

Merlin was discharged from the ER this morning!
His foster mom just picked him up and he is feeling much more spunky after his blood transfusion! He is still being finicky with eating but we will continue to entice him with whatever he wants to eat! He is such a little fighter, and we hope this is just a bump in the road! Thank you to everyone who shared our post and donated!

MERLIN UPDATE!
Look who started eating on his own!!!! Merlin has been hanging out in his medical foster home for the last few days, and has finally started eating in his own! He’s still getting the hang of it as he chews and chews, but eventually he does swallow. He has been getting better every day! We hope this is a good sign and that he will continue to grow big and strong! Go Merlin Go!

Not all of our shelter dogs got to go into a foster home this holiday. So if they couldn’t have Thanksgiving in a home, we decided to bring Thanksgiving to them!

Our 15 remaining shelter dogs were treated to a dog safe meal! We love all of these dogs like our own, and even though they have to be in the shelter, we do what we can to give them the best care possible. We hope that these small acts of kindness show our shelter dogs just a little bit of extra love and comfort.

We thought everyone would enjoy a CHIP UPDATE!
We are over the moon to let you all know that Chip is doing great! He is getting bigger and stronger every day and starting to play just like a normal puppy! His foster mom has given him round the clock care to ensure his health and speedy recovery and he is thriving! We couldn’t be more happy for our tough little guy!
Since Chip was feeling much better we decided that he needed to get into the Halloween spirit and have a little photo shoot! He was such a good boy and was so patient with us. We think he is the cutest little ghost in town and you will too! 👻 🐶

When your owners walk you into animal services and surrender you to be euthanized, but instead, you got a freedom ride! 🚗 💨
This 14 year old poodle named Schauffie was going to be euthanized per owners request due to no fault of his own, but luckily he was in the right place at the right time, when a volunteer over heard what was happening and decided to take him!
This guy is loving life and is now on his way to our shelter! He may be 14 but he’s got lots of spunk and pep in his step, he will be looking for his furever home soon!
But for now he’s enjoying the music, the ride, and the wind in his hair, Welcome to the Runaways Schauffie 🐩 ♥️
Another day another abandoned animal…
Just after 9am this morning, our cameras recorded a silver Nissan rogue pull into our parking lot. A person then is seen getting out of their vehicle, taking a box out and putting it on the ground in one of the parking spaces. This person then opens the box and a tiny black cat pops her head out looking confused. This person then pours some water in a bowl next to the box, gets in their car, and leaves. Abandoning the cat in front of our facility that is closed, and where no staff members are even scheduled to come in until 9:30….
It is very clear that this person was trying to evade the cameras that are at our front door, but little did they know, that our entire building is surrounded with security cameras, and we caught every moment of this illegal act on one of those cameras.
Not only is abandoning an animal negligent, it is also illegal. This act is considered Cruelty to animals, and animal abandonment per Pasco county law.
Pasco county ordinance states as followed..
Sec 14-37: Cruelty
(5) Any person who abandons a dog, cat or other domesticated animal in any public or private place;
Sec 14-38: Abandonment
(a) It shall be unlawful for any person who owns, harbors, or keeps any domesticated animal to abandon it
We wanted to take a moment to make a post about this to help bring awareness. Abandoning an animal is never OK. Luckily one of our cat care volunteers arrived early today and saw the cat sitting up on the rocks by our front door. She was then able to contain the cat and bring her safely inside (Thanks Sue)
This could have ended very badly, the intersection right outside of our shelter is extremely busy. Not to mention at the next light is US 19. We also have a pond in the back of our shelter, that is home to two alligators.
We could go on all day about how dangerous this is for the animal, but sadly these things continue to happen. When you take an animal into your care it is YOUR responsibili
