We live in a world of quick fixes and convenience...

But this week Carrie-Anne of Canine hoopers world will be troubleshooting the why and how we can create awareness of this important topic!

Our module ethics and integrity which is such an important subject.

The problem is it's often easier to pick a quick solution or poor choices...

We live in a world of convenience. A world of quick fixes. It doesn't matter how intelligent you are, or if you are a logical thinker.

When it comes to wanting something now, we will be tempted to pick an option that's easier to achieve. But often comes at a detriment and in the long term sets us back even further!

This applies to business, personal habits and relationships...

But like the quick fix dog training there are no magic wands and ethically we should never promote or encourage dog guardians 'there is a better way'.

And this is where Carrie-Anne comes in, a safe place to discuss this subject with our students and open up the conversation.

After completing the 3 month Distinctive Dog Trainer Mastermind Course and successfully passing all parts of the assessment process she has been awarded with the title 'Distinctive Dog Trainer'.

The Distinctive Dog Trainer Academy is dedicated to uniqueness, empathy and unrivalled support.

Our new course structure is 'rolling' and will start later this year. This means you can do the online version self-paced and join in our peer review sessions and geek outs!

This gives dog guardians the confidence that our Distinctive Dog Trainers are kind and ethical, keeping up to date with learning theory and go that extra mile to provide a unique and bespoke service.

This evening we had the most insightful talk with Guest Expert Janet Finlay from HeartDog with Janet Finlay and Michelle Dart

We all agree on one thing, her wealth of knowledge is incredible!

Discussing things all niche and content the biggest take home was speak to the type of Dog Guardian you want to support.

Alongside Janet's talk we have our weekly workbooks so you can have some ideas for content, of course putting your own unique touch on it ❤️

We are working hard to build our Academy!

As part of our 2024 course, students gain access to our course support group and website recordings.

Later this year we'll be changing the course structure to incorporate it as a more long-term programme. If you've already completed our course, don't panic, you'll still get access to your course learning modules 🐾

If you have graduated as a DDT, you'll gain access to any future new material in the signature course or geek outs!

Her journey with Sabre is phenomenal and we all love him so much 🐾

Did you know that the 3 most common issues that Vets see with our dogs are:

🦷 Dental
🐽 Obesity
🦽 Oestoarthritis

The main reason for elective euthanasia is because of the final end stage of Oestoarthritis 😔

Trying to keep a food loving dog full while dealing with pancreatitis and Oestoarthritis is a difficult juggling act!!

But today on his monthly check in and meds we finally have a loss!!!

It has really been noticeable this last week as well in his behaviour. Usually in the week leading up to his monthly med jab, I have to supplement with an extra Gabapentin as he struggles.

Not this week though!

Hes been quite agile....for an old boy and puppy like 🧡

So pleased 😀

I'm Sue Kewley, a dog trainer and behaviourist with over 35 years of experience.
While I've worked with various breeds, my bond lies with German Shepherds.
I fell in love with this breed as a child when one lived next door. We used to chat through a gap in the fence. Later I saw the levels of that special bond on visiting displays when I had a non dog job!

I was lucky enough to experience this bond with my first german shepherd in 1983, we competed in obedience, she was a great dog. Over many more years I shared with the breed, I enjoyed breeding, exhibiting, and living alongside GSDs through every stage of their life.

All too often the GSD is harshly handled, and I made a conscious choice to learn how to channel the breed's talents , using modern methods that are always kind and effective - never involving aversive or punishment.
German shepherds seem to get a bad rap and I feel strongly that we can buck the trend of using harsh corrections with this sensitive breed.

My passion lies in supporting guardians, professionals and their GSDs with the guidance and learning they need to achieve their full potential. I take pride in debunking myths and ensuring these sensitive dogs receive the understanding and care they deserve.

Having encountered personal challenges and observed others struggling with German Shepherds, I initiated The Happy Shepherd Program. Recently we transitioned to an online format, this has broadened my reach, allowing me to aid professionals and guardians worldwide in understanding and managing these remarkable dogs.

I am always happy to chat about Shepherds. Outside of training, I'm an enthusiastic agility competitor and proud owner of two working cocker spaniels and a Labrador. Sadly my last German shepherd passed away in 2023, but I’ll always be the Shepherd Person!

I'm incredibly excited to be interviewing Bethany Grace this evening on everything bull breed related and how to create content which fills your inbox with enquiry and hope! 🤗

I met Bethany through the The IMDT an amazing organisation we support who offers accreditations and courses to become a dog trainer.

Bethany became a friend and mentor during our assessment giving us extra emotional support.

I must admit I personally was a bag of nerves, Bethany helped me (and all the others) feel confident and that we would succeed!

Even after the assessment Bethany continued to support others, even offering tips on how she was able to grow her own business with her fabulous tips via her business page.

Bethany is a dog trainer and behaviourist, specialising in bull breeds based in Surrey and South West London.

She is Member of the IMDT (The Institute of Modern Dog Trainers). Bethany has worked with dogs of all ages, breeds, sizes and abilities supporting rescue centres for many years ✔

Bethany prides herself on staying up to date with the highest standards of a proven, science-based approach, using the most ethical and kind methods with a focus on positively reinforced training and behaviour.

She has recently set up a club especially to support owners with bull breeds and from what I've heard it's phenomenal! 😀
