Does your beloved chihuahua have bad breath? Are their teeth dirty and need of a cleaning?
The one thing that chihuahua owners should do daily is to brush their dog's teeth.
Seems like a daunting and challenging task, but just like us humans, your chihuahua should have their teeth and gums gently brushed to avoid costly and unnecessary teeth extractions in the future.
So, how do you do this? It's easier than you think!
Step 1: wrap a piece of gauze fabric/pad around your index finger and dip/scrape a little bit of virgin coconut oil with it, or use your clean finger.
Step 2: allow your (adorable) chihuahua to sniff the coconut oil gauze that's wrapped around your finger. Let them get used it.
Step 3: won't be too long before they start to lick the coconut oil off the gauze and at that point begin to *gently* run your finger along their teeth and gums. Don't forget to go all the way to the back of the mouth. Do this for both the top and bottom teeth and gums.
Your chihuahua won't stop licking the oil and this gives you an opportunity to get in their mouths without forcing a dog toothbrush, or other tool that they're not comfortable with.
That's about it! The coconut oil along with the gauze material will help break down the tartar along the gum line and clean their teeth at the same time leaving their mouths feeling clean. Also, coconut oil has antibacterial activity, antiviral, and antifungal properties. The lauric acid in coconut oil attacks harmful bacteria in the mouth that can cause bad breath, tooth decay, and gum disease.
