Permaculture Action Day!

Join us on Sunday May 29th for a Permaculture Action Day at the Lyons Food Forest! Dance in the dirt to live music from Bloomurian as we plant flowers and trees!

We have some amazing projects we are ready to activate on the land and if we can gather at least 30 people for one day we can make them all happen pretty quickly so they can be enjoyed all season and for years to come! Bring a shovel! Bonus points for wheelbarrows!

Our action day is from 10-4 with a lunch break from 12:30-1:30. Bring a lunch or walk to the Saint Vrain Market, Moxie, or other yummy local food hubs nearby.

The Lyons Community Farm Project mission is to cultivate community in edible living classrooms that grow food and medicinal plants while regenerating soil environments, connecting communities to the local food movement, and facilitating ecosystem and culture restoration while honoring and uplifting ancestral wisdom from indigenous people.

Our first project site is the Lyons Food Forest at 319 5th Ave Lyons, CO! The Lyons Food Forest is public, edible forest garden! We are calling on community to make some magic happen! Our focus this weekend will include planting an Elderberry Spiral near the entrance of the property, continuing to work on our Pollinator Guild Fairy Garden, building a Three Sisters Children's Lodge, and sheet mulching our Medicine Wheel annual and perennial garden, to be planted in the Fall!

Saoirse Watters will lead our opening circle in the morning and an offering ceremony for the fairy garden and the nature spirits! If you would like to bring a whimsical and/or earthy offering for this ritual, please do!

Bloomurian will be playing some yummy, vibrant music for us to work, dance, play, and celebrate life to!

Please come and bring a friend, or 5! We are calling on community support to make this happen! This is a community led, collaborative project and while you're working with us, if you feel inspired and wanna create something, talk to us about it! Your ideas and dream seeds are welcome. As we plant this forest garden we are sowing the seeds of health and gratitude for generations to come.
Come play!

Nasturtiums, poppies, and pumpkins oh my!
Come join us tomorrow for our biweekly Web of Life Community Meetings on the Lyons Food Forest land site, 319 5th Avenue Lyons, CO.... 5:30-7:30 PM!
Tomorrow we will give a land acknowledgment to the property where we are able to plant this years seeds. And afterwards we will look over and discuss our design (which is evolving) and determine which aspects we are ready to put in place this spring! We will also be scheduling community work days! So if you wanna get involved, tomorrow is a GREAT day to come (because you get to help choose work day dates!). Big love to our community and big mama, the earth that feeds us all!

So in love with this picture of a couple of cuties! Photographer unknown 💗💗

We will be having a work day at our next Wednesday Web of Life Circle! We meet the first and third Wednesday of every month and next week we will meet on site for the Lyons Food Forest to put in some beds for our herbs and perennial babies.
We are so grateful to our community for supporting a thriving new agricultural system. Food sovereignty and awareness is one of our passions and core values. We hope to help community become more engaged in the local food movement. If you are a local grower, milker, farmer, or medicine maker, let us know! However big or small, if you’re selling food a crafts you grew and made yourself, we would love to know. We are compiling a list to share.
Hope today is a rainbow day for you too! Happy Tuesday! See ya next week! 🌺

Join us this evening in the greenhouse! We had some pesky mice eat some of our seeds so we are replanting a few trays (and coving them with lil humidity domes). We will also be scheduling future work days and just getting our hands dirty. If you wanna bring an instrument and sing a song to the plant babies, I hear they like music! Tonight 5:30-sunset at 2052 Apple Valley Road Lyons, CO … don’t knock on the front door! Go through gate to the right of the house and straight back to the greenhouse. Close gates behind you, there are chickens and things we don’t want to escape :) see you soon!

How do you define abundance?
How do we, as a culture, define and consider abundance?
Yesterday, a beautiful human gifted us these eggs. They don’t even need to be dyed for Easter, already so gorgeous. They come from healthy hens on a hobby farm near Manitou Springs. If this isn’t abundance, then I don’t know what is.
Healthy hens, fertile soils, generous friendships, happy kids, magic moments, abounding beauty.
Thank you, beautiful Earth 🌎💦🌿

Hi lovelies.
Here’s a lil song seed I’m watering and sharing in this spring sunlight. ✨listen with headphones or high quality speakers ✨ So thankful for the songs that come through and how they teach me. Songwriting is such a fun and collaborative experience with the universe for me. If you make it to the end of the song you’ll notice one of my strings dropped out of tune 😅 such is life!
Also inviting you to Wednesday Web of Life Community Circle in Lyons, Colorado starting tomorrow, March 2nd! These circles are welcome to EVERYONE regardless of creed, belief, race, identification, and all that jazz. We are inclusive by nature and want everyone to feel they have a place here. Click the link in my bio for more info or search for Lyons Community Farm Project on Facebook and you’ll find a lil event page :)
Mmm big love to us all as we figure out how to live on this earth and be in relationship with our living and non-living, human and non-human cohabitants. May love be the guiding the guiding force and may this beautiful, wild earth be plentiful and healthy for the next seven generations and on.
Thank you for this day, what a breath of fresh life.

We are so excited about this year's Boulder Permaculture Design Course! The Boulder PDC has some truly incredible teachers! If you are interested in deepening your knowledge of permaculture, sustainability, building community, and all things plants this is an excellent opportunity! There are still a couple scholarships available! The link to register is in our instagram bio this week!

From the Boulder PDC website
"This course is a deep dive into regenerative design, grounded in the permaculture ethics and principles as well as local ecology. In addition to completing a group design project, you will learn an abundance of earth care techniques–managing water, building healthy soil, designing and planting food forests, integrating livestock, and much more. You will also get an introduction to natural building and social permaculture. This course is designed to showcase applications of permaculture on many scales, from urban settings to farms. Expect to spend a few hours outside of class working on your design project."

See you there!

Goood Morning and Happy Wednesday! We wanna keep introducing you to our team members at Lyons Community Farm Project! Hopefully someone reading this will get inspired and join us too!
Tyler Stellern has been showing up to all the meetings and keeping us clear on what it is we are aiming for in the big picture. He is our Board Treasurer and a lover of bees and flowers!
Tyler started his career after receiving a business degree from CU Boulder. He helped start up the organic soap and cosmetic company, Pangea Organics, and served as the director of finance. There, he started an organic educational community garden dedicated to education on sustainability. He is currently the owner of his own company, Simply Bee Organics, which is dedicated to educating people on what they can do to save the bees!
And now he’s here with us.. growing a super dope public food forest in Lyons. We feel lucky to work with such inspiring folks.
