A huge congratulations to the Interschools team riding for who WON last weekend’s league at Coilog in a tough competition! 🏆🏆🏆🏆

Week in and out these girls put in such hard work and dedication, this win was so deserved! Proud coach moment! 👏👏

Barefoot Progress Update 🐴

Photo 1: November 2022 -

Although Bobs had been barefoot for a few months here, he was in hoof boots for turnout throughout the day. Although I made every effort to provide Bobs with the support he needed, the lack of movement over mixed terrain was something I struggled to give him, due to his lameness at this stage.

In the first photo - we can see a lack of frog support, a very weak digital cushion, with little to no support for him overall, a weak foot in general.

Photo 2: February 2023 -

In this photo, we can see a wider and thicker frog, some natural bar support, slightly more heel height, and improvement in his digital cushion, which is amazing to see such a difference! 💪

This is great improvement in such a short space of time! We can also see here that the hoof itself is starting to really change and come into its own shape 🤞 This is predominantly due to his change of environment, which is track system living for his rehabilitation.

What is really helping Bobs here is the constant movement over mixed terrain, such as sand, limestone, hard standing etc.

Movement over mixed terrain, provides more circulation to the hoof, brings a continuous blood flow supply to the hoof capsule, which overall aids in healing 🌌

I'm pleased with his progress so far 🙏🤞

Well where do I start?! Not only did these amazing riders pull a 2nd place finish in the Interschools Competition, team 2 also placed 6th!!

What an achievement ladies, a huge well done 👏🎉

What a night at The Grassroots Gazette Awards Gala 🏆🥂

Weekend Results 🔥🏆

A massive well done to my ladies who rode in the Team Jumping at Mullingar over the weekend 👏 

We had both Lilly & Jeorjia in the jump off, who both rode a cracking round to secure the team’s overall 3rd place! 🐴🔥

These are super results ladies, and proof that the hard work is paying off! 😎

We look forward to our team training again this week! 🐴

Great evening coaching two students in preparation for the show at Mullingar this weekend 🐴

This evening we had Lilly & Jeorjia in a private coaching session, where we worked on some technical jumping and combinations. Excellent jumping all round ladies well done 👏👑

For the week that's in it - one of our all time greatest achievements, competing at the RDS Dublin Horse Show ❤🍀

Bobs done me so proud this day! I was so nervous I couldn't even eat 🤦‍♀️ the run up to the show itself was the stressful part! We walked in there and he just had it all under control as if he'd been there before 🥲 look how handsome he looked 🥺❤

Such an amazing experience and I enjoyed every minute! There is a long haul ahead of us but will keep the faith to hopefully compete here again together someday 🤞❤

🍂 A Good Mare 🍂

Overworked & Underpaid - The Equine Industry Crisis 💰🐴

I am proud of this one! This is very much a "hidden under the carpet" topic which isn't spoke about as it should be, within the industry. A little bit of my own experience in here also.

This is also not to slam those who are on minimum wage per hour - but it is a serious issue and over the last few weeks, I've read nothing but posts online, "We can't get staff", "employees won't stay longer than a few months".

➡️ Why is that? - are employees working regular hours as per what was agreed? Are employees being paid no less than minimum wage, or does it increase depending on experience? 💰

➡️ Why won't staff stay? - review the requirements. Treat employees fairly and make sure to give appropriate training to suit the role. 🐴

➡️ Annual leave, performance/salary reviews, time in lieu - these need to be incorporated into the standard package for workers amongst the equine industry.

Article 3 for , Barefoot vs Shod 🐴📝

A few questions to take away from this article;

➡️ Do horse owners "follow a trend" of shoeing?

➡️ Do we know, or have we been taught any different?

➡️ Are we doing what's best for the animal in the long term?

Extra proud of this one if I say so myself! The main reason being, that this situation is something I'm currently dealing with my own horse at the moment. No one said equine rehabilitation was easy, but this is the most intense and longest "foreseeable" rehab I've done to date. Hopefully I'm on the right track ✔

I learned so much throughout the seminars with hoof and rehabilitation experts, it was amazing and I enjoyed every minute of independent research and study on this topic!

Let's talk trotting poles 🐎

So simple yet so effective! ⭐

Its only when you actually look at how the horse moves while trotting over the poles - they really do assist with such effective muscle engagement, and can really help engage those hind quarters 💪

Although there is no increase in weight bearing while the horse trots over the poles, it is important to note that they do increase flexion within the limbs, which can in turn increase the joints range of motion 🐎

Another simple exercise for horses overcoming injury or during controlled exercise/rehabilitation 🐴
