Big day for Whimsy! For the first time ever she got her feet done. We've been working slowly with her and have put off doing a lot of things until baby Dublin was weaned. That happened a few weeks ago and she's started the next phase of her life. So proud of her as she was amazing! She also got her first vaccine and wasn't much a fan of the poke but we got through it..

This has been a hard month. In all my life I've never seen an October like this one. Unseasonably warm and relentless smoke. Making the decision to cancel lessons is never done lightly. But cancelling due to smoke in the air is serious. Horses are very vascular and air contamination hits them harder. Air quality near the barn has consistently been above 150 lately, currently sitting at 158 (178 near my house, making me dependant on an inhaler for the first time in my life). Just know that we are committed to making up missed lessons. The health of the horses must be a priority as they do not have any filtration options and are constantly breathing in the smoke. I think it's time for a rain dance. After last fall/winter/spring/and early summer I didn't think I would ever wish for rain again, but without it, who knows how long this will go on.

In other news, baby Dublin has been weaned and mama Whim is now at the barn and will start training. She seemed to handle it well (we made sure she had lots of food since she's a stress eater ) but she will get several days to settle into life at our busy barn.
