SO many people ask me what the main reasons for me feeding raw to my giant breed dogs are, two main reasons: its healthier and it helps protect their kidney function! Dry kibble is very low moisture and can cause their kidneys to work excessively. Also the high amount of carbs in kibble (which are just as plentiful in canned food) can cause serious harm to kidneys. Chronic kidney disease (CKD) is mostly caused by the kibble that are fed to dogs and is a huge concern when it comes to the amount of pets diagnosed with CKD. If your vet recommends a special diet for their kidney health and it is still a dry kibble its important to keep in mind that a lot of the time it can cause more aggravated problem. If you do feed kibble diets make sure they get moisture elsewhere whether its adding water to their dry kibble or making sure they drink lots of fresh water with every meal!
