Quick before and After. Our young Asian Forest Scorpion Larry got a new upgrade into his 10gl gallon enclosure today. Added more decor for enrichment, a deep hide, more creature spill and sphagnum moss. All for him to enjoy. So far he has been non stop cruising, exploring his new home.

MARK YOUR CALENDAR! We will be doing 2 live Reptile and Animal shows on Saturday, October 22nd at the Historical Society in Malta. Hosted by the Malta Public Library, the first show at 11am and the second show at 12pm(noon), with potential for a third show depending on interest. Each show will last approximately 30 minutes. Everyone welcome our newest addition to the adventure. This is Reggie, our new Leopard Gecko. We took him in from someone that was moving and needed to downsize. Reggie had been abandoned outside in the winter here in Illinois back in 2019 before he was found by the previous owner. She took him in and gave him the love and care he needed until he came to live with us today. He is estimated to be around 4-5 years old. No known issues. He will be in quarantine for a few weeks before he joins the rest of the clan in the reptile room. We are very excited to add thud adorable animal to our crew. Everyone welcome Reggie!

In about a week I will have some business cards. The plan is to take a trip to a store/out in public with a reptile to drum up interest and pass out business cards. Which animal should I take?

I am very excited to announce that we will have a tent tomorrow at the Malta Days Festival in Malta, Illinois. We will be there from approximately 10am - 3pm. We will have free stickers and suckers while supplies last. Come check us out and see or hold some cool reptiles! We hope to see you there!
I didn't get a chance to post this before work but Sheldon the Redfoot Tortoise got a big upgrade today. I had bought supplies for an outdoor enclosure for him but it hasn't consistently stayed warm enough for me to finish it and move him out there so today I grabbed some wood and built him his indoor enclosure which he will use during the winter. He may not be outside but he was finally moved from the tub he had been in next to our bed to a 4x4 enclosure where he has much more room to roam and explore. Not pictures are the UVB light and heat lamp I did put in.
Everyone meet our new Redfoot Tortoise Sheldon. We got him yesterday at the Tinley Park NARBC reptile expo. I've been wanting a Tortoise for a long time. Can't wait to watch him/her(don't know gender yet) grow. I will be building him an enclosure outside for the summer

The wife got tired of cleaning the metal cages we had the adults in so she decided a rack would be better. She insisted on bigger tubs so we not have a large tub adult rack. Our rat operation continues to grow. Hoping soon the consistency is dialed in and I can focus on finding customers

This is WAY overdue but I finally did it. With thus current battle we are fighting to keep our community it really makes you think about a lot of things. It has made me think about the animals I have. It's made me think about the impact those animals have had on me since I got into the hobby. I've thought about my future goals and plans involving reptiles and what I would do if I couldn't pursue those goals. Whether I succeed or fail, having the ability to chase it is what I want. Therfore, I couldn't find bu****it excuses anymore. I need to do more to help protect this community and this is one step. Are you a member? If not, what is holding you back? Can we work together to change that? We all need to be dedicated to protecting this community.
Hey everyone, our rats are really starting to pump out babies so if you need pinkies/pups/small rats in the dekalb county area let me know!
I still have a long ways to go to decorate it how I want it but either way the amazon tree boas are finally out of their tubs and this way I'll be able to look at and interact with them more. I already have ideas in my head for making their enclosures more appealing to myself and them but this is a start. If you have ideas for giving them an awesome enclosure feel free to comment those below!
Now that all the frustration is over, MY FIRST DIY RAT RACK IS COMPLETE! (For now) Right now I only have 3 levels. 1 level for boys and 1 for girls right now to grow up and the third is empty. The height will let me have a total of 6 tubs but right now I was just trying to get enough done for the babies. All 21 rats were in the two metal cages for a but while I built this rack. If anyone in the dekalb county area needs/wants rats for feeders or pets let me know! We have a variety of colors/fur types available.
I'm excited to announce that Ben's Reptile Adventures will soon have a new location and a new reptile room!!! We are very excited and I will be doing a YouTube video in the new space and will film a room update and animal update all in one once everything is set up. Our goal is to make this space much more of a permanent, fun display room. STAY TUNED FOR EXCITING CONTENT COMING SOON!!!!
Today's task: Get the TV remote back from my snake that is not ready to give it up.
Didn't do a live but anyone that saw my last live with knows we talked about this deal and today it happened. We traded snakes. I sent him my female Pastel spotnose and male orange dream ball pythons and in return I got a breeder age pair of Amazon Tree Boas. I now have 2 species of boas. One of my biggest sayings that I use in my keeping is "Stick to the species you love and they'll never turn into a chore" and if I'm honest with myself, I'm not a ball python person. They are amazing snakes but I have always preferred boas. Boas and large snakes are just what grabbed MT heart and won't let go.. So we made a trade that benefited us both. So in love with these ATB's already. The male is the green and the female is the red. Can't wait to show you guys the enclosures I'm going to design for them!
WE HAVE BABIES! Today we got our first litter of baby rats. Took about a month but we finally have babies. They were born on my wife's birthday so who knows if she'll even let them go anywhere haha. Just need to dial in the consistency.

Got a new board to show where in the U.S. I've received stickers from. If your state isn't colored in let's do a swap! Once I fill up the US I'll get a word map to display the few international stickers I've received and any others I receive in the future!
