Sharing. This care is very expensive so if you have a few dollars to send their way everything helps.
Jingle, and now his sister Bell, have both tested positive for panleukopenia. While this is heartbreaking news, there is one small comfort, we’re able to reunite them so they can fight this together. Having each other brings warmth and familiarity during an incredibly scary time, and we truly believe it helps them feel less alone.
So far, Bell has had minimal symptoms, mostly just not wanting to eat today and losing a little weight because of that. Jingle’s journey has been more up and down. At one point, he became laterally recumbent, and we truly feared we might lose him. Thankfully, we were able to get pain medication on board, which made a dramatic difference. He went from needing to be tube fed to eating independently again. It’s very possible he was in so much pain that he simply shut down.
They also tested positive for Giardia. Jingle has had intestinal sloughing and bloody stool, which we believe contributed significantly to the pain he was experiencing.
Both babies are being closely monitored and supported, and we’re taking things day by day. There is still a long road ahead, but they are fighting, and so are we.
