In Loving Memory of Cooper:
Our beloved Cooper crossed the Rainbow Bridge on July 29, 2024. I am profoundly heartbroken and don’t know how I will live without him. He was my best friend and my first puppy love when I moved to LA. From being my protector during my single days, to standing by my side as I got married, and welcoming our daughter into the world. Cooper has always been a constant source of joy and love over the 17 years he was with us and part of our family. He was the sweetest and most loving dog, yet he had a playful side that loved to sneak human food off people’s plates at parties. As a big brother to our little rescue girl, Yancy, he showed his affection with gentle licks to her ears. Often times Cooper reminded us of a cat because he loved to sit at the top of the couch and lounge with us. We will truly miss him dearly and cherish every memory we shared with him.

In loving memory of Lexi:
Lexi was our beloved dog and family member for the last 12 years. She was a kind and sweet dog who was excellent with our grandchildren.

Dr. Chan gracefully helped Lexi pass in the comfort of her home. She was courteous, caring, and professional. We are grateful to have had her help during this difficult time for our family.

In Loving Memory of Chloe:
Our sweet, loving, caring, Chloe crossed the rainbow bridge yesterday 2-21-24. Chloe was a beautiful 15 years old yellow lab that came to us when she was only 7 weeks old. Chloe wasn’t your typical yellow Lab, she happened to be a Dudley, which meant that she didn’t have pigmentation on her nose, muzzle, paw pads and eye rims, it made her even more unique. She was my shadow, and I loved that no matter where I went in the house she followed me. She was loving, warm, and always had to be where the humans were. She became the big sister to our rescue Leia and our silver Lab Sterling, and as such she was a great big sister. Our hearts are broken that she is no longer with us, but we are also at peace that Chloe is now in Heaven playing with her other sisters Shayla and Vader, and no longer suffering. Till I see you again my sweet girl.

The grief that comes with the loss of a pet is painful, messy, and all-consuming. You may find yourself doubting your strength and questioning your actions during this period, but we encourage you to offer yourself the same love and compassion that your pet always did. They would want you to handle your heart and mind with care. 💜

In loving memory of Copper:
Our precious dog Copper is “resting in peace” now. He had beautiful, copper colored, soft fur and a glorious tail. We will always remember his sweet cuddles and bountiful energy. He would sit behind us on top of the sofa cushion, nestling his head against our head, resting his chin on our shoulder. We miss him so.

Thank you Peaceful Paws LA for your compassionate care throughout the entire process.

In loving memory of Mamas: Mamas Chocolate Rosales lived from 2005 to 2023. You would never meet a sweeter, enthusiastic, energetic, and cuddly chihuahua than Mamas. I was 6 when she was given to me. At first glance, I immediately knew she would be my best friend and how her fur looked. I named her chocolate. She decided against this and stole my nickname. This made our bond even greater. Not only was she my best friend, daughter, and much more, but she was my light at the end of the tunnel of many challenges I have faced in my life. I never felt alone with her around. She had seen my highs and lows and still stayed with me through it all. I’m grateful for her and all that she has done for me, she lived a long, full life of 18 years. She’s in a much better place now, and I hope she’s still the happiest puppy doing what she loves most in Heaven with my grandfather and past dogs. Also, weighing at 3 pounds of pure love she was the strongest companion that walked through life with me, I will miss her and will never forget her, my heart breaks to have her gone but I know she will always be with me and my family.

In loving memory of Dusty Rose and Pepper:
Here are our girls. Dusty was a German Shepherd/Australian Shepherd mix. She is the larger of the two dogs in the picture. Pepper was a Blue Healer. They were three years apart in age and loved going on walks. Dusty was 11 and Pepper was 8 in this picture taken at Bridgeport, CA. Camping was the perfect opportunity to hike in open spaces. They had to be on lashes because they loved to chase deer.

We said our final goodbye to Dusty in Aug 2022 and to Pepper in Jun 2023. We appreciate the staff of Peaceful Paws for providing us with comfort during through this difficult time. We miss our girls and will forever hold them in our hearts.

Many of our euthanasia clients have also known Carol and her tireless efforts to help community cats with Simi Valley Non-Profit Spay and Neuter Clinic.

Our clinic family suffered an incredible loss April 26, 2023 when, Carol Olson, our director’s mother, a devoted wife and mother, feral cat trapper extraordinaire, kitten tamer and all around amazing human being passed away. “Feral Carol” was widely known throughout Ventura County for her passion and extraordinary efforts to trap feral cats and rescue / adopt cats and kittens through the non-profit Pink Paws and Simi Valley Spay and Neuter Clinic: She will be forever loved, remembered, and appreciated as a member of the feline rescue community. Few realize the many undesirable locations / situations that her dedicated work took her: From sewers and roof tops to chimneys and dark alleys. Carol cared for kittens until they could be adopted, and treated sick felines until they could fend for themselves - no small task for anyone who has tamed down even one cat. Carol’s work within the feline community was tireless, yet she always managed to have a smile on her face…and room for yet one more cat / kitten. She will be deeply missed by the community, friends, and her family. We are all heartbroken.

If you would like to make a donation in Carol’s honor to continue to help spay and neuter feral cats and pets please go to our website www.simivalleynonprofitspayandneuter.com and click the Paypal button or mail a check to Simi Valley Spay & Neuter Clinic 1659 E Los Angeles Ave Simi Valley CA 93065

In loving memory of Lady Lulu:
Lady Lulu - "the luckiest lady in town" is what we used to say about her when she was first adopted. Turns out, we were the luckiest family in town to have her in our lives. A sweet tiny schnauzer with a loud bark, she always preferred hanging out with people (instead of other dogs) no matter where she went. We're thankful to have had her with us for such a long time, and for our kids to have experienced growing up with a dog as sweet as she was. We're sad to see you go, but happy to know you're not in pain anymore. Lulu, you will be in our hearts forever.

In loving memory of Blu:
Blu chose me when he saw me at the pound. He was that kitty meowing, purring and clawing at the bars. He was around a year old when we got him and we got to love on him for 10 1/2 years. He got sick suddenly. And we had to say goodbye. But we know he’s up there meowing at his Grandpas and meowing his head off. We were so lucky to have him for as long as we did. This picture is our favorite one.
Thank you for choosing me Blu.

In loving memory of Buddha:

I am attaching a picture of Buddha doing what he loved, baking in the sun.

I found Buddha on the C train in NYC over 12 years ago. Since then he has been my best friend and companion. He was a gentle giant who loved people, and really rewrote the misinformed fears of people on pit bulls all his life. Peaceful Paws allowed us to have everyone who loved him most in the room to say a peaceful goodbye and we are forever grateful.

In loving memory of Bean:
Full of energy and a real sun seeker, Bean was most loyal to her dad Justin and mom Liza and leaves behind lots of memories shared with her brother Orion and sister Sienna. Over the rainbow bridge Bean has found Fooz and Diva and is no doubt stealing the toys from their mouths!

In loving memory of Shiki
8/1/2011 ~ 1/1/23
Shiki joined our family in 2012, barely 1 year old, but already fully grown. His birth name was Shere Khan, named after the Jungle Book character. His demeanor was far from tiger-like. He jumped at every sneeze or loud sound. But surprisingly, he managed to travel to Europe and back! Along the way, he made new human friends and touched snow for the first time! His favorite thing to do was fling his green toy upwards into the air and catch it. It seemed as if he were practicing for playing fetch – which he did, on occasion. Whenever he had the "zoomies," we'd hold still to prevent injury from being mowed over. Living with him was never a dull day.
We were blessed to have him in our lives and he will be forever in our hearts.

A gentle reminder to families who may be planning ahead that in LA County, home burial is not legal and in many cases it can be harmful to important wildlife. If you do not want your pet cremated we can help you with other options.

At least 13 bald eagles were likely poisoned by scavenging the carcasses of euthanized animals dumped at a Minnesota landfill.

Euthanasia.⁣

The single worst decision, day, and moment in a pet parents’ life. The kind of decision that makes you question ever owning another pet, because it’s too damn hard. This inevitable moment is too painful. ⁣

“This must be the absolute worst part of your job.” I hear that almost every time.⁣

Yes. It freaking sucks. But you know what I say to that each time?⁣

Euthanasia is a gift. A way to allow our furry angels to pass with peace, without stress, and with dignity. We wouldn’t be here if I didn’t believe there was another option. And just because it’s the right decision doesn’t make it an easy one. ⁣

Remembering those words allows me the peace and calm to help you through one of the worst days of your life. That doesn’t mean I won’t cry too, or my hand won’t shake when I’m giving those final medications. But it means I can go home knowing your baby isn’t suffering anymore.⁣

That also doesn’t mean it won’t take its toll. We are veterinarians, technicians, nurses because we love our patients like their our own. A small or sometimes very large piece of our soul breaks every single time. At certain times it seems like we can’t catch a break, that the losses are coming too quickly for us to even take a breath between. “Dr. Death walking” we’ll sometimes say. ⁣

The holidays tend to be the worst part of the year for this ugly trend. Making Christmas cheer, or Thanksgiving gratitude a little stale most years. So over the next few months, please remember to be kind to all, to extend grace and patience even when you might not feel like it, and know above all that if your heart is breaking so is ours. ⁣

With love,⁣
Your Veterinarian

In loving memory of Princeton: Love is Watching Someone Die 💔 - Death Can for Cutie
Princeton, aka Pan, aka Little Dog, aka Princeto, aka Prince took his final breath on November 5, 2022 and crossed the rainbow bridge after a courageous battle with CHF; he was only 6.
All of my dogs have a Greek name, and for Princeton, I chose Pan. In Greek mythology, his essence as the God of the wild, imbued his surroundings with life and vitality. Nature was at its most bountiful when Pan was present. Princeton and I did and saw more in 7 months together than many people, never mind you dogs, do in a lifetime. Although our time was short, and ended abruptly, I’m so happy he chose me to spend the end of his life with. 🥰 Apollo and I are missing you already. I hope there are all the ground squirrels and lambies and bison for you to chase in heaven. Until we meet again, Little Dog 🐾🌈💙 I love you.
