Three years ago, Purrsonified was born out of a love for cats and a mission to raise awareness for FIP. Since then, we’ve grown into something so much bigger than just a small business—we’ve become part of a community fighting for FIP Kitties
everywhere. 💛🐾

Now, as we celebrate this milestone, we’re ready to take the next step in our journey. Today, we’re launching our FIP Advocate Kickstarter Campaign to expand Purrsonified’s reach, bring more awareness to FIP, and continue making meaningful change for cats everywhere.

Business in the cat community isn't what you think it is.

It's not getting a degree in communications only to end up making cat toys in your basement. It's not spending eight weeks preparing for an international Expo and walking away with just enough $$ to get the business through the next month. It's not laughing with customers, looking at pictures of their cats, then switching to learning mode with industry mentors and change makers.

No... it's about the love of these strange creatures that meow. And while that may sound vapid and shallow, there is no more succinct way to encompass the complexity of why we all do what we do. It's pretty obvious we're not in it for the money (and any money that is there is for the aforementioned creatures) 🤣.

I have too many thanks to give today. Too many names to tag of those who renewed my spirit, inspired drive, and contributed to the success of the weekend. Am I being too cheesy? sure. that's what inspiration does, and I believe we need to tell people when they make an impact in our lives.

Here are the bigs:
Val - I couldn't do it without you. Thanks for putting up with my s**t and soooo much more.
and the entire family (including all the mentors and fellow business partners seriously theres like 2 dozen names I'd put here and IG would think I'm a scammer)- the vision is monumental, grateful to be a part of it.

My family for helping with toy production and prep!
Anyone, customers new and old who stopped by the booth, you keep me going, you're beautiful.

AND to the person who lifted the eggplant... I've not experienced product theft until this show and I know it's collateral. I'm really not angry, I just hope your cat enjoys it and ignores you for weeks. Send pictures🤣.

Lastly, I think this caterpillar might be turning into a chrysalis full of goo soon, Purrsonified has a messy metamorphosis in its future. Thanks in advance for your patience.

I've got 99 things to do, but the cat won't let me do 1.

Yep, I've been pretty MIA the last few weeks. Truth is in neck deep CFA prep. I just never know how it'll go. I don't want to take too much and god forbid I not take enough! 🤣. Do I need to make Christmas cookies from last year, will anyone really buy them?
Nope. Nope... besides there's fruit cake!

Oh and price tags?? Who needs 'em?

October is many things here in the Purrsonified household.
The month Vader was diagnosed with FIP, the month I was diagnosed with Celiacs, the month that the CFA show dominates life and the month that Marching Band season is in full swing, cross country, homecoming AND the month I usually host a massive Halloween party.

It's also Breast Cancer Awareness month, the month that some 8 years ago I ignored a lump in my breast and the month that 7 years ago I celebrated the end of my treatment.

Too often, "Pinktober" gets a bad rapp. There's something to be said for desensitizing awareness months because much like FIP awareness, Breast Cancer Awareness isn't just about the awareness that the disease exists, it's awareness of all the aspects therein.

It's taken me a very long time and many years in therapy to realize I had PTSD from my year with cancer; from feeling a bump, to diagnosis, to learning I caught it "in the nick of time" to the treatment and preventative measures that took 10 invisible years from me, I muscled through while running a business, adopting two kittens, planning a quilt show and leading a Girl Scout Troop...because I didn't want life to stop...because there were too many odds, I was too lucky and there was too much to loose.

I ignored my lump for four months because a Dr told me I was too young to worry when I complained about other cysts. It didn't show up on a mammogram. I was 36. It was triple negative, extremely aggressive, and was half a stage away from being in my lymph nodes. Life changed drastically that year, "friends" walked away, family buried their heads. I did not have a mastectomy, I am still "missing" a portion of my breast. I had a complete hysterectomy and I take an estrogen inhibitor (for another 2.5 years) to reduce another occurrence of cancer. I don't usually identify as a cancer survivor, but it haunts me every day.

These are the things that are uncomfortable to say but are necessary to discuss. This is Awareness.
