One of the most bitter sweet moments I’ve ever had in my training career 🥺🥰

See you later beautiful Maggie! Maggie finished up her 10 month walk and train training program. Maggie graduated from starting with one of the most extreme cases of reactivity I’ve ever seen (lunging & barking at just the sight of a dog quite the distance away in a quiet area) to being able to walk around lake weeroona with happiness and relaxation 🥰💜

I have built such a bond with Maggie over this period of time and she’s definitely one I will never forget.
Maggie you have opened my eyes and heart to what is possible with training and dedication. Thank you for being amazing and being you.

I hope to see you on my walks around the lake 😊💜

As most of you may know, I am also a qualified veterinary nurse of almost 10 years.
Recently my very good friend and veterinarian, Emma, has started a much needed business in Bendigo. In - Home euthanasia.
Emma and I often work together and this has opened my heart and mind to help give much needed support to dogs and people.

This process is much calmer and reduces stress when performed in the dogs home environment.
The reduction of stress and time for allowance of other pets in the household to go through the grieving process themselves is a peaceful experience.

A service that I’m also now offering is helping our 4 legged family members with the grieving process of losing their bestfriend / housemate afterwards.
Dogs do go through grieving processes when they lose a member of their family like their older dog sibling. Dogs behaviour can be dramatically affected by this, and we can implement a supportive plan for both human and dog to help with this process.

Please reach out to me if you and your dog/s need any help with the grieving process after losing a beloved 4 legged family member.

The graduation night involved all puppies having a go at new skills and fun activities which they all loved!

Why is Nelly in a muzzle? 😷

If you pay close attention to our social media you might recognise sweet Nelly from our walk&train program as well as the recent graduation pics from our group manners class.

Now, you may ask yourself - how is it that a dog who looked so stoked in her group manner class graduation pictures now needs to wear a muzzle???

Well basically - it’s not Nelly, it’s you 😅😂

Nelly is an absolutely gorgeous dog who just needs a little extra personal space when out walking. She has progressed so much that her trainer Abbey is now able to walk her in busy environments like Manly!

BUT - unfortunately much of the general population still think it’s ok to:
🙅‍♀️ Try to pat dogs they don’t know without asking the handler and then the dog.
🚫 Let their dog go up to any random dog in public spaces without asking.
🤦🏻 Walk their dog off leash in on leash areas.

So, for these reasons when walking Nelly in a busy area like Manly Beach we make sure to protect her personal space, feelings of safety and MAJOR training progress by utilising a muzzle, a give me space vest and a bright colour harness&leash set so you really can’t miss this dear girl and she projects LEAVE ME BE from every angle.

Remember that public spaces are there for everyone to use and enjoy 🥰 From the most confident to the extra cautious canines and everyone in between.

Walk and trains are my most popular training service and there is a good reason why!

- I train your dog one on one for 45 minutes each week! ✅

- We work on all types of behavioural and training issues that are occurring and we also teach new skills. Some examples of issues are reactivity, loose leash walking (pulling), anxiety, manners and lack of skills / knowledge ❤️

- Walk and trains also include one private session with each package 🧍‍♂️

- The consistency, frequency and predictability helps us maintain our results achieved from the sessions 😊

The walk and trains are for those who are committed to seeing change in behaviour and / or learning new or strengthening current skills 😊

This also perfect for new Puppy owners who want to prevent behaviour or training issues from occurring in the first place and set their puppy up for success! 😊🐶❤️

Meet Toby! 😍 Toby loves his sessions with me and is no longer anxious about leaving his human like he was at the very start!

Toby doing SO well with his loose lead walking, check ins and has displayed no further reactivity since reaching session 6. His improvement is incredible and shows how important predicability and consistency are when training 😊🐶

I’ve helped Toby learn to relax and have more trust in his person and environments. Showing him leash walking is safe even when seeing other dogs out and about!

Toby is beautiful boy and is very happy to please ❤️

This is gorgeous Ace. Ace is a sweet and very kind German Shepherd but he is very strong.

Ace has been working with me for a few months now. His owner first came to me with serious concerns of extreme “steam train” pulling. 🚂💨
It honestly was so difficult to walk him, it was more like he was taking us for a ski ride! 😅

This is something that is very common especially in our large breed working dogs because of their strength and size. 🐶

After working with Ace, he thankfully does not pull like a steam train anymore. 🙅🏼‍♀️😅
He also listens and checks in, which is part of the process of training loose lead as well.

Ace is now lovely to walk with his maintenance lessons he has been having 😊❤️

💕Minnie💕

Minnie is a Bernese mountain dog who did puppy school with me and is now doing some walk and train lessons to ensure she is well mannered and well trained girl out and about! Minnie is going to be a strong, big girl once fully grown, therefore loose lead walking is essentially! Minnie is doing so well with her loose lead skills and has demonstrated loose leash and her “look” cue in distracting places and triggers! She also has beautiful manners and focus! 😍

Now taking enrolments for Focus and Calm course starting Sunday May 5th 8:30am.

Focus and calm is the next course up from puppy school and Is suitable to all puppy graduates wanting to expand and further their skills plus learn new skills in the next course.

Focus and calm is suitable for dogs that are already well socialised but would like to work on manners, recall and loose leash walking.

Course is suitable from 14 weeks and up.

Focus and calm is not suitable to reactive or anxious dogs. These dogs benefit from private sessions to discuss a plan. 😊

Our puppy school may not be like other puppy schools that you might have attended before.

Our puppy school focuses heavily on a relaxed, calm and socially appropriate environment so learning can take place and good behaviours can be formed 💙

I receive feedback often about how the person and puppy’s experience was fulfilling and educational; but also relaxing and enjoyable with minimum chaos and over excitement. This is really important to me as a trainer and vet nurse to establish a solid foundation for young puppies.

Puppy school is where behaviour issues are either prevented or sometimes accidentally encouraged and this is why careful set up, management and structure is so important. Giving our puppies the best start is most important to me.
