Hello, my name is Romy and I am the Fur Rescue Mom. My family and I started rescuing dogs in 2016, our love for dogs all started with our first Schnauzer son, Mr. Feeny. Mr. Feeny was a baby when he came in to our lives almost 8 years ago at only 8 weeks old. The comfort and love he gave us was so wonderful that from that moment it opened the door for us to want a 'Feeny' in everyone’s lives. After a few years with our fur baby, and a few more furry additions, Livi, a beautiful, special needs poodle, came into our lives and our love for fostering and rescuing grew from then on. In December 2016, Livi became our first foster and in May 2017 Livi became our fur daughter. We couldn't bear the thought of our lives without our sweet Livi in it. Livi was rescued from PVAC (a high intake kill shelter in Texas) after I saw a video on Facebook about her severe Arthritis. Since she was in our hometown and needed to be rescued, we offered to help her. Not long after I traveled to St. Louis Missouri for her to get specialized care. Livi lived a life full of love, and unfortunately passed away in December of 2018. With the support of my family, I have been able to rescue and transport 100's of fur babies so that they can complete other homes the way my babies do ours. Currently we have 4 fur babies, Mr. Feeny, Thor, Hildy and Lenny plus 1 fur grand child Spencer. Thor became part of our family January 17, 2019 after a severe work accident his then Dad suffered and was no longer able to care for him. Thor is a happy and talkative special needs schnauzer, he is incredibly loved and spoiled by all of his family and all of his friends on Facebook.
In the last six months, we have reduced the number of fur babies we have rescued due to a decline of my health and to prepare for my surgery. My family has been very supportive and helpful with all of the rescues and transports we have done. Currently, because I will be recovering from surgery soon, my family will not be able to focus on rescues and my recovery all at once. I have degenerative disc disease, spondylolisthesis and 4 herniated discs in my lumbar causing me severe pain, as such we have decided to temporarily stop rescuing or fostering dogs.
I have created this page in the hopes that once my family and I are able to dedicate time to fostering again I will be using this page for communication with the community. At this time I am humbly asking for help to raise funds to pay the hospital and Doctor co-pays for my surgery. Unfortunately, the surgeons will not operate until the co-pays are fully paid. Please know that this page is intended for dog rescues in the future, however in order for me and my family to continue to rescue fur babies I am in need of this surgery.
