CARE AND NUTRITION

The Basset Hound is an unusual breed, there are also weaknesses in dogs. Particularly careful attention requires the spine due to the structure of the body. Therefore, it is worth protecting dogs from falling, descending stairs and jumping off the couch while the dog is growing. It is also necessary to take care of the outfits: in autumn, to keep the dog clean, use light overalls, and for the winter season, especially in severe frosts, you need to choose warmer clothes. Bassets are especially prone to cystitis, so try not to overcool them.

Pay attention to your pet's ears. Wipe them regularly with a cotton pad. Use a special ear cleaning lotion. Do not forget about the eyes: without fail, they must be wiped with a 0.01% solution of chlorhexidine.

Bathe your dog once every 3 months. After walking, simply rinse the paws and stomach, then wipe dry.

It will take a little time for you to brush. During the molting period, this should be done daily.

Pay attention to the claws - once every two weeks, using a nail cutter, carefully trim the claws so as not to hurt the animal.

You need to walk your dog regularly! Basset should get used to defecate on the street from childhood. It is advisable to develop a schedule of walks.

Training is best to start from childhood. Choose your trainer carefully.

As for nutrition, you can feed the basset with special foods or natural food, it's up to you. The main food should be balanced - everything that a puppy needs for full growth.

HISTORY AND HABITS

There is an opinion that the Basset Hound breed was specially bred by French monks in the Middle Ages. The people of those distant times needed a dog that could hunt in the thicket and keep its nose as close to the ground as possible.

Certainly, some "family ties" connect this breed with the French Bassets, but the breed was finally formed in England.

Bassets are able to drive the beast, pursue it for a long time, overcoming long distances. Dogs move at the same even pace.

Bassets - dogs whose roots go back to the old days, even then gained popularity among hunters. This breed is amazing! Bassets have a pack instinct and do not show aggression. Cowardice is not their quality.

CHARACTER

Charismatic, amazing and amazing Basset Hound puppies will take the first place in your life! Winning hearts, showing individuality and just being a true friend is only a fraction of what a puppy will give to the owner. These irresistible short-legged friends will become a favorite for the whole family! Deep sad look, long ears and endless charm of the basset hound will not leave you indifferent.

By purchasing a dog of this breed, you get a true friend forever, who will be sooo upset if you leave him. Purchasing a Basset Hound puppy is a big deal, so you need to make a serious decision.

Be prepared for the fact that you will have to forget about peace and quiet in the house. A tiny angel will require his portion of care and love. Puppies have an amazing memory and even know how ... to cheat. Yes, in this they are not equal. Sad eyes, the puppy asks for a sofa? Be firm! Otherwise, the puppy will understand from childhood how and with what to “take” the owner.

It takes patience and a lot of free time to properly raise a basset. Consider the peculiarity of the breed - whims, stubbornness and resentment. If your goal is an obedient, silent and submissive dog, then the basset is not for you! with these dogs you need to be able to negotiate, talk. The puppy will try to outwit you more than once.

All character traits are trifles compared to what kind of love and devotion a basset will give you. A small personality with his pranks and a big soul - a pet that will surprise, delight and make you happy all his life.

Our pet/companion pups we consider making available to approved homes are placed on the AKC Limited Register with Dogs.

In consultation with our Vet we will undertake a long-planned breeding undertaking with our delightful homebred tri-colour girl in December and look forward to the privilege of meeting her newborns.

The Lineage/Bloodline details of our Bassets is available from the Australian National Kennel Council (ANKC) database and copies are available on request.

Our pups have a thorough Vet Health Check post birth and again at 6 weeks of age when, at this Vet visit, they have their Microchip inserted along with their C4 Vaccination.

Heartworm protection is commenced from 2 weeks of age.

Air travel may be considered on direct destination flights only.

We are appreciative of people based interstate and intrastate who have chosen to be “Owned or Re-owned by a Basset” and have selected one of our youngsters to help them along this path.

Visitors welcome – however once our newborns arrive we allow no visitation until they have developed immunity from their C4 Vaccination.

31/07/2023

Coming from farming families, we are two passionate young farmers who own our dairy farm. We have a herd of Jersey cows of approximately 150 head of which 70 are lactating. We are now certified organic for the milk from our cows and for all our field crops. We work hard to preserve the environment and develop healthy and sustainable agriculture. Our choices are constantly linked to a return to the basics of what nature offers us. The health and well-being of our animals are our priorities.

On the family side, we are parents of four beautiful boys: ClĂ©ment, Éloi, David and Bastien. They are our pride and will perhaps take over our dairy business for a 6th generation of Lemieux on the farm. Work-family balance being at the heart of our lives, children follow us and learn from our passions. Our four children are daily involved as much in the work of the farm as in the tasks in the kennel; they love getting their hands dirty and are aware that with everyone's efforts, we will be able to build great things!

basset hound puppies for sale in Arizona

We had our first basset hound in 2003 when we were finishing our college studies. His good temperament and his unique style seduced us immediately. Her sad but endearing gaze, her relaxed side and her kindness towards children suited our life perfectly!

A friend who breeds Chihuahuas convinced us to get a registered dog to ensure the quality of our Basset Hound to start our breeding. After much research, we found Venus! She arrived from Texas in October 2005.

basset hound puppies for sale in Arkansas

The desire to start a small breeding has always been a project that we caressed about. . Thus, it was in 2009 that we officially became Basset Hound breeders. Since then, several dogs have been born and have been imported to swell the ranks of our lines.

We will not be competing in conformation in the near future given our family and farm commitments. We are working to develop bassets that have the standards of the breed but above all, with a playful and good-humored temperament. We call them ''our happy dogs!''; we make it a priority.

The plans for the next few years are to expand our pack as nature permits. We are now better placed for our dogs and we firmly believe that by putting all our heart and energy into continuing to improve their health, conformation, education, comfort, socialization that we will remain among the elite of the Basset Hound world. We hope to have given you a taste of the Basset Hound and that one of our puppies will be suitable for you as a companion !

We have the animal passion of tattooed on the heart. Our values surrounding family and the relationship we have with all the hearts that beat here at the same rate as ours make us unique breeders!

Breeding Program
Are you looking for the absolute best puppy for your family. Look no further! We invest the love, passion and training into each individual puppy to ensure the best puppy for you.

Who We Are...
My name is Damian Moore and all throughout my life, all I envisioned for myself was having a family of my own and working with animals. I have taken care of children and animals for as long as I can remember. So, growing up I would babysit children and rescue every animal that lived outside, up to and including the squirrels 🙂 We had even taught some squirrels to eat out of our hands. The passion grew more intense and developed as I got older. When I turned 17 I began working at a pet store and than for a veterinarian at the age of 26. I worked there until my Wife Kylie became pregnant with my first child. It was then when I witnessed a dog get put to sleep because her tumors were so severe they ruptured. She cried so hard they sent me outside so I would not be seen or heard by the grieving family. It was at that moment I knew I wanted to be more involved with the beginning of life and less involved in the end of life in animal care. Some people have it and some people don’t. But it seemed that no matter what type of care or rescue I’d give to an animal, death was always going to be a part of it. It was a very hard lesson for me in life since I have always been overly sensitive.

Years later I have become a lot stronger. I had worked a lot in rescue and rehabilitation of animals since my younger 20’s. And during that time we had rescued 4 basset hounds that were in such great need, I had to bring help in to assist in removing fleas off of them that would have grossed just about anyone out. They were malnourished and in great need of extra love and care. It was the first experience I had ever had with the basset hound breed. But my love and admiration of basset hounds didn’t even begin there. It wasn’t until 2014 when I told my father I really wanted to get into dog breeding but wasn’t sure the breed. He remembered a good ole basset hound from back when he was a younger lad. He must have talked about that dog for hours. It was then we had decided that basset hounds was going to be our breed. All we needed now was to learn everything there was to know about them and more. lol Sound easy enough? Not really. There is a ton of information out there about breeding and also about the basset hound. And there began my search for information and our very first basset hound puppy.

In the spring of 2015, we had gotten our first basset hound sisters, Katie and Bella. And a few months later, we found Rufus. Even after, we got them I was scared about going back into breeding. I wasn’t sure I was ready for the responsibility, demands on our schedule, or even if we had enough knowledge. But life isn’t worth living without taking that leap. And as we watched them grow and morph into the amazing dogs we ALL have come to love and enjoy my absolute admiration for the breed began. We now have several basset hounds that we care for and no, not all of them are breeders. But, I have dove right into learning all that I can about breeding, and about the basset hound breed; that I have myself, became a breeding mentor to other new breeders. It is with the combined love and passion we share for our babies that truly bonds most of us together. And in the end, our shared knowledge that we have learned can benefit other breeders and their babies. And for that reason, I continue to be the absolute best role model I can be for others and also to provide the absolute best puppies a breeder can offer. For I truly believe you can have a dog from the best quality stock and without love and passion you wind up with just another puppy thirsty for love and attention. I have seen it so many times with breeders. They get two gorgeous dogs and breed them and the result is horrendous. Puppies look malnourished, almost sickly and badly needing the basics of care. So, with that said I continue to reach out to fellow breeders and help them obtain the knowledge needed to go forward in their quality of care that is administered to their puppies. Life couldn’t be better. Basset Hounds are just an absolutely amazing dog breed. I cannot imagine my life without them.

What We Do...
founded in 2015. And although we are a fairly younger breeding kennel, we are quite experienced in all things basset hound. We could not love this breed anymore than we already do. We provide more services than any other breeder out there. And that’s a promise. ; Our bassets are more than pets. They’re Family!

We do more than provide families with just another puppy. We have carefully selected bassets that fit the size, build, health, temperament and confirmation that we want to see in our puppies. Once we find what we are looking for, we closely watch them as they grow to make sure they develop properly and without health issues. Each one of our chosen bassets receive thorough health screening and a full physical to make sure they continue to pass our expectations. We want to make sure they will produce the absolute best quality puppy for your family.

Once a litter of puppies are born, we look for traits which are conducive to a career that demands excellence in ability and temperament. We provide very precise testing and early development training to separate those that will make good hunting dogs, medical therapy dogs, or the absolute best companion that they can be. We provide early learning and development through enriched playtime and capture those key opportunities to help them develop emotionally, socially, and physically from the moment they are born. This is done through exposure to a variety of activities and exercises that are necessary to enable an optimal learning structure and experience.

We ensure that the puppies are given the right balance of stimulation, play and rest so they enjoy learning and never feel overwhelmed. We provide structured schedules, safe play and learning and alter it based on each individual puppies developmental timelines.

We believe that a quality basset hound is not only found through careful breeding but also in early development training. So, if you are looking for a puppy that not only meets your expectations but surpasses them than come to Us where we take the time with each one of our amazing puppies to make sure they are emotionally healthy, well socialized and physically fit. When you bring them home they will be ready for just about anything in whatever direction or adventure life may take them.
