We take quite a few pets without owners for various reasons, such as housebound, busy working or they just happen to be ill that day.

We are known at all our local vets. Its great getting to know the receptionists, vet nurses and vets.

It builds such a lovely sense of community and belonging

Because you get to see these people on a regular basis (vets accounts for over 50% of what we do) you really get to know people over time and chat like old friends

I love the feeling of belonging to something special, as do our franchisees

In urgent need of a franchisee in any of the following areas;

We have a cattery that is looking for our service multiple times a week which we are currently having to help from MK.

This will be an ongoing contract and a great incentive for a franchisee taking on the area

Leaving a mark on the world

Chris said when he joined us, he wanted a role where he was helping people

Since starting he worked out pretty quick this job was not what he thought it was going to be

He thought he would be just taking peoples pets to places (see what I did there 😉 )

But he soon found out how we are so much more than just a pet taxi

He's found out just how much we help and support our customers

He said in our chat last week that he feels he is leaving his mark on the world and how even as a tough guy whose seen a lot of bad things in war zones as a para

His customers can bring him to tears

I love hearing this; I love hearing how I gave someone the opportunity to do something that they find not just rewarding but feeling like they are;

Leaving their mark on the world ❤️

You've Really Got To Think On Your Feet

Chris was down in Exeter yesterday (from Pontefract!!)

With a rescue dog who was being moved from one foster career to another.

The dog was showing a lot of signs of aggression and was being given a last chance before being PTS

Whilst the dog got in ok, by the time Chris arrived in Exeter the dog wouldnt let anyone near him (he was in the crate)

Chris called me to ask what to do

Get the crate out of the car whilst the dog is still in it, put someone secure and open the door with you outside of the secure space.

Chris called me back when he left and said he had no idea what to do and was so glad he had me to call

He said he was surprised how much this role is thinking on your feet

10 years in, there isnt much I havent dealt with
Luckily thinking on my feet is one of my skills sets

Its now beginning to be Chris's

How good are you at thinking on your feet and coming up with a solution on the spot?

For a pet taxi, Chris was pretty surprised how much he has had to do this, not just yesterday but with other customers too

Our Why

Its not just vets we cover
This little lady goes to the Groomers every 3 months

Her mum doesnt drive, and the groomers is across town, not accessible by bus

A lot of our customers dont drive, as ad river I'm always shocked by how many people dont drive

But with the cost of living increasing, the number of people working from home increasing and the cost of running a car

We are finding more and more customers dont have their own car, not just the older generation but the younger generation too

A lot of our grooming customers also use us for our other transport service's too

So we still get to see the owners and chat to them

Pets 2 Places is such a needed service, customers often say 'where would I be without you'

Which is true, we are needed across the UK

Our Why

Daisy's owner Michael is so old his only car is one you have to wind up!! and it only goes about 30mph

Her dad is one of our oldest customers, he must be about 100!!

Daisy has so many health problems, she's really old herself; 17!

Her dad always says they grew old together

Her dad is pretty wobbly on his feet and Daisy isnt much better

Between the 2 of them, they need help and support getting in and out of the car

I love our chats, Daisy's dad has had his vintage cars featured in some period dramas and regals me with the story's from the days on set as well as what he did in his working life

I love hearing stories from how the world used to be

Its comforting for Michael to know he can call on Pets 2 Places whenever he needs us. He obviously couldnt stand and wait for a bus and the people taxi's dont like taking pets

Our Why

This is Ben

Ben as a kitten was left out in the cold and developed cat flu which is pretty serious

As a result he has asthma, he has to have monthly injections

His mum has multiple health issues including mobility, his dad is blind and deaf, both in their late 70's

When I first started taking Ben his mum used to come along, she is so lovely and chatty.
They didnt have any help form anyone and struggled as they are getting older with little things.
So when I'd drop them back I'd check if there was anything I could do for them like change a lightbulb, move something heavy, drop some stuff off to the charity shop

Juts little things which were easy for me, but not for them

They say I'm like the daughter they never had

I consider them like surrogate parents

The connections with pets and their owners is so special, heartwarming and life changing for both of us

Its not just all about the pets, its about the people too

Our Why

This is a guide dog, she is her blind owners 9th guide dog

Obviously she goes everywhere with her dad, they do a lot of walking and get the bus too, but when going to the vets or hospital appointments its easier if they use Pets 2 Places

I've known her and her dad for pretty much the entire time I've been running

I get on great with them both, its like catching up with old friend's when we see each other
When you've had a customer that long and you spend time with them in the car and in waiting rooms of vets and hospitals, you get to know each other and chat like friends

Thats what I love about what we do here, we chat like old friends, reminds me of when I was younger before all these big stores.
When you could go into your local shops and everyone knew you, knew your family and asked after them

I love being a part of this old fashioned type of service, we know all our customers by name, their pets, their familys names. Over the course of using our service, we get to know people

And chat like old friends

I guess thats why people think Pets 2 Places is an old fashioned kind of service

But in a world of automation, I love the old fashionedness of what we do

It makes me feel so connected to the people, the community and being with pets all day is pretty awesome too

Our Why

This is Lou

She doesnt use us often, but she needs us

Lou struggles to walk, she can barely make it from her house to the car with her walking frame or stick

Milo her Collie is blind and a very anxious dog. Milo has to have Beapher calming spot on for the first few times we meet because he is so nervous. It works a treat

Side note- I took note of this product and have recommended it to many other customers, its always an idea to take notes of anything helpful to pass along

Milo is a bit of a handful because he is strong, blind and you have to guide him so he doesnt walk into anything

Getting Lou and Milo into the car and back out the other end is always a bit of a challenge, between helping the two of them, but I know like most of our customers, they dont have anyone else to help

Lou's only daughter lives local but doesnt drive and her other friends are all older and dont drive either

Pets 2 Places is a life line for Lou and Milo, without us they wouldnt be able to get out

Our Why

This is Lyn
She is in her 70's recently widowed
Has 2 Greyhounds, saved from a life on the track

She can walk, but not far and not fast

When we met her husband who was the driver had died a few months before

Lyn needed to get the dog to the vets for regular check up, vaccinations etc and found us via the vet

Whilst Lyn doesnt live that far from the vets, its too far for her to walk

Lyn also doesnt have any friends or family members who live nearby who can help, especially as the dogs are so big and are not going to fit into anyone's car

Thats where Pets 2 Places comes in, we can help Lyn in and out of the car
We can help the dogs in and out of the car

Lyn is a bit lonely as she lives alone
She always talks about her 'job' which is volunteering at her local church for the various groups that use the church hall for gatherings, Lyn likes the children's groups she 'works' at

It gets her out of the house and gives her people to talk to, we get that alot with our customers

They are lonely and isolated with their pet being their only companion

The power of what we do is so incredible, we are so much more than just a pet taxi

Our Why
This dog was attacked whilst out on a walk with his owners friend
She's lucky to be alive

The vet said it was one of the worst dog attacks they had ever seen

Now the friend doesnt live nearby, and the dog needed ongoing treatment

The owner is old and housebound and has no friends or family nearby who can help get the dog to the vets

Thats where Pets 2 Places comes in; we know that without us, people have no other way of getting their pet to the vet

Especially in an emergency situation

This dog required vet treatment every other day for 3 weeks, moving to twice a week, weekly, then fortnightly until her treatment was complete

The dog was the owners only real companion in life

We helped save the dogs life and the owners companion

Thats the power of what we do here

We are so much more than just a pet taxi

Ours love the beach
Here they are on a cold day, loving running around, even though it was cold they still went in the sea!!
When we go to the beach its pretty far away so we make a day of it and stop off at the fish and chips shop at the end of the day

Its normally sunny, we haven't been when its rained luckily, when its cold though we put their coats on because its still pretty cold by the sea and now they are older they feel the cold more

Having some website updates AGAIN

I am always looking at ways to improve the website
Expect some serious work on our franchise page over the next few weeks

I'm just throwing this out there now because I know it is going to take months to find the right person
- I'm looking for a women
- Over 40 years old
- Who wants to run their own pet business
- Has money to invest
- Loves animals
- Loves helping people
- Wants to have a role where they feel valued, respected and fulfilled
- Has teenage or grown up children
- Has a comfortable life financially
- Is looking for a new challenge
Essentially I am looking for someone to take over the reins of the business in around 12-18 months so I can focus on building the franchise side of the business
Ideally I'd like this person to join me this year to help with holiday cover, get to know the customers, build relationships with the other animal businesses such as vets and basically learn everything about how to run the business
This woman will be a key player in the growth of Pets 2 Places and an integral part of training future franchisees, mentoring new franchisees, growing the MK area from where it is currently
Whilst initially this would be an employed position, this would be to then go on to buy the business as a franchisee
This would involve an investment over 40k (exact figure to be discussed, just giving a rough idea) which includes the vehicle, all equipment, training, all the customers, connection and a well established business of over 8 years
I am happy to discuss this opportunity further
To be clear I am not looking for someone who just wants a job, I'm looking for someone who wants to be the MK franchisee
This being one of THE most important franchise areas though, it has to be the right person which is why I'm putting this out there now

Can I Binge on Your Content?

Last week when a potential franchisee had said they had read every word on my website, I felt a bit intimidated by this

I know I have a great website with lots of information on it though

I make sure I always create blogs, make updates every now and again to improve the SEO

Not sure how I can improve from the top of Google organically, but I still do this anyway, so that over time, my website will be pretty much unbeatable

Tons of blogs on various subjects so you can binge read my content in one go

When I connected with a Mindset Coach on LinkedIn, I went to his website and binge read loads of his blogs to see what he is all about

I think you can tell a lot about a person or business from the content they put out there
