Part 2…
The decision was made to go ahead, do the surgery and give her a fighting chance. Surgery was then scheduled for first thing the next morning. One of the hardest things I’ve done was leaving my beautiful girl for the night not knowing if it would be the last time I ever saw her again.
The next morning after a final consult with the vet she went in for surgery. All I could do was sit and wait for word of the outcome. After what seemed like forever, which was actually only 2 hours I get the call. She had made it out of surgery and was stable!!! After the surgeon was able to get in there and see exactly what the damage was they ended up only having to remove 1 lobe of her lung instead of the whole thing! Although this increased her chances of survival she was not completely out of the woods yet. Only time would tell.
I am so pleased to say as of today she is doing very well. They were able to remove her chest tube and are hopeful they can take her out of her oxygen kennel by this evening. If everything continues to go well we should be able to finally be discharged and home by Wednesday ☺️. Lucien is anxious for us all to be home lol. I will update everyone as soon as I can.
I’m sure most of you are wondering “what about the babies during all this?”. Never fear they are healthy and doing very well. Took a bit to adjust from nursing on mom to being bottle fed but they’ve finally got it down and are gaining weight daily. I will post a few pics of Raina as she recovers and some of the puppies as well🥰
