It was graduation night tonight for the pups on the Follow Up Teen pups course. These guys have made so much progress in the last 8 weeks and I couldn’t be prouder of them. Get them rocking down/sit stay and walk away and just look at how pleased they are with themselves!
Big shout out to Phil with Martha and Linda with Olive and Queenie too, they couldn’t make tonight but their progress has been outstanding as well. Congratulations everyone.

Anne, Ronnie and Teddy have worked soooo very hard since starting with Dogs Life in November. I was so proud to award Teddy his IMDT grade 1 partnership rosette tonight and just look at how pleased he was (not to mention the 3 of us!).

Luna and Teddy did some amazing emergency stop training tonight. Such an important skill to teach your dog and this pair absolutely rocked it. They were even able to stop in a marked out box! Superb skills!

Sarah and Luna (with the help of Alison too in recent weeks) have worked super hard since I started training them and Luna dog has come so far with her training. I was so happy to be able to award them the IMDT partnership award grade 1 this evening. Congratulations!

Conditioning your dog to an item or an experience using positive association is amazing!
When I started paddle boarding I had a romantic hope of floating around on the water with Ind.
I started with lots of treats when the board was being unpacked and inflated and whilst the board lay in the garden, for quite some time we played lots of super positive games on and off the board. When we eventually took the board to the beach Ind had nothing but positivity towards the board and the results speak for themselves and this is coming from a Scottie dog who’s breed apparently don’t really like water, can’t swim and generally will do anything to avoid water.
Positive association is everything with dogs!

Puppy training took a little break at the start of last nights class to play a few games of Find It. Everyone had lots of fun but Find it is also really useful if you find either yourself or your puppy unable to get out for any reason. Find it gets their scent skills popping and encourages lots of mental stimulation too.

We then spent some time working on our loose lead skills. Being pulled along the pavement by your furry friend is no fun for anyone. If your pup learns to walk on a loose lead it makes for a much more enjoyable relaxed walk for you both. Everyone worked really hard to encourage their pups to walk beside them rather than pulling like little excitable tanks! (Video in comments)

One of Indy’s besties Molly is here to stay. We always say that play and chase should be an even balance between 2 dogs…..it’s important that neither feels got at, like the underdog so to speak. Indy and Molly have a perfect balance but in a different way. Indy loves nothing better than to chase and Molly only ever wants to be chased. It’s a perfect match but in a slightly less conventional way. They absolutely adore each other too which helps!

It’s was graduation night tonight for these four beautiful pups at the Dogs Life Follow on Teen Pups course. Amazing progress from pups and owners since way back in November when they started as little Pupstars and I couldn’t be prouder of them all.
Grade 1 here we come!!!
