This week, two Poodles found themselves on an unexpected adventure near the 7000 block of North Academy Blvd. They’d broken through a fence, wandered into the heat, and were pacing the sidewalk with tongues hanging and eyes scanning for safety.

That’s when Officers Womack and Tait pulled up. Both are animal lovers, and instead of rushing in, they knelt low, spoke gently, and let the dogs decide if they could be trusted. A little patience, a calm smile, and the square, expressive faces began to lean in instead of back away.

Fresh water appeared, and the Poodles drank like they hadn’t seen a bowl in days. The officers stayed right there with them until their frantic owner arrived, relieved to find his missing companions safe and sound.

Two athletic dogs, two steady officers, and a quiet moment on a sunny sidewalk—proof that compassion is just as much a part of the job as the badge.

They wait for us. Always.

Our pets fill our lives with unconditional love and never stop being a part of our hearts. This sweet picture says what many of us hope is true - when it’s our time, they’ll be there, tails wagging and purrs ready, waiting to walk with us again.
