Latte is a sweet, good-minded appaloosa mare that came to Hearts Alive Village Horse Rescue after 22 years with her previous owner.
The laminitis in her front feet had flared up and she was limping along in her specialty boots until her feet were ready for shoes with pads.
She has a little degeneration going on in her eyes and developed an ulcer in her left eye. To compound her pain, she has been dealing with a deep abscess in her right front foot.
Happy to report that the abscess has been worked out with daily soaking and the eye is healing, although very slowly. She is headed for surgery to assist the eye before infection can set in.
Please help us help Latte so she can enjoy life again with minimal pain or discomfort.
Her surgery will be costly, but the hope is to save her eye!

Stages of Watering.
Irrigation is in the front pastures, we are hoping to hydro seed soon.
Even with the gentle fall breezes, the horses are still struggling to keep cool.
We opened up the entrance way for Angle because she is just a little short to be able to enjoy the breeze.

We have been pouring concrete for two mornings at 4 am and the foundations are in!!
The metal building crew is hard at work now piecing together the parts. They can’t stand anything on the concrete for four days, so they are staging.

Building pad is complete and the foundation is being built now.
Forms and rebar- the footings/ foundation is being built this week.
After planting the new shade trees we then put in place the irrigation system.

Cathy has made a very generous donation towards the shade tees and Moon Valley Nursery was very generous to add an additional tree.
The trees are beautiful and blending in well with our desert environment.
They are providing much needed shade!
The goats have decided they taste good too, so we have added additional protection to the trees.
