ADOPTED
Odin an 11 year old male elkhound in Kennebunkport, ME.
Odin - in Maine - updated September 2022
Odin is a beautiful 65-lb Norwegian Elkhound who is approx. 11 years old. He was adopted from our rescue many years ago and his human father passed away, leaving this sweet soul needing a retirement home.
Odin doesn’t know he’s supposed to be a “senior” because he is still energetic, enjoys walks, and loves to determine the route of the walk; true to his breed he can be a little stubborn. Odin has a good temperament, is housebroken and sleeps on his dog bed nightly. He has some basic commands and can be shy around new strangers but warms up quickly to people he accepts.
Odin needs a stylist on board because he sheds quite a bit, true to his breed. He doesn’t mind his baths with the hose. He does not like his tail or haunches touched so a home with small children will not be a good match. He LOVES to be brushed and have head scratches.
Odin has not lived with other dogs – when he meets up with them he barks fiercely but does not charge for them. A fenced yard would be ideal for him because an open door is a welcome invitation for him. He LOVES to take rides in the car; it’s hard for the humans to escape in the car without him!
Note: we do not have a physical facility where our dogs are housed; they are cared for in our wonderful foster network throughout New England. It is our expectation that, once approved, a potential family will meet the dog(s) in the foster setting where they are feeling safe and loved.
