Hey? Are you still there? Mom says she hasn't posted much this week as she's been really busy at work. She said something about November 5th, but all I heard was blah, blah, blah. Teddy and Nacho have been such a fun addition to our farm family! Those faces...those squeaks...those little legs. They are such well-behaved gentlemen with the kids who visit and love to have something smaller to hold and snuggle.

The first "farm" animal we took in when we purchased the property were goats. It's safe to say, we haven't had a boring day since! We started off with three - Maggie, George and Walter. We agreed to take in 5 more later that year (Forest, Luce (now an angel), Nibbles, Oreo, and Sansa) not knowing the girls were all pregnant. Three short months later, we had 5 more (quite the BOGO deal and yes, Forest was banded after his arrival). That winter, Hope came and stole our hearts. We then got our fainters, Blue and Corbin and shortly after that, Casey and Adele joined the family. In case you lost count...that makes 17 goats!

We have a few special requests for our goats. The biggest is a new water trough. We don't have a winter water source to their barn which means we have to manually fill their water with buckets that we fill inside and drive out there. To prevent us from having to do this multiple times a day, we'd like to upgrade them to a trough.

Hay makes up 100% of their diets and we supplement with mineral blocks. They also wanted us to remind you they love treats!

We are going to let our dogs kick off the animal specific lists. We have five dogs in total. We have two small senior dogs (Buddy and Lewie), and three larger adult dogs (Lane, Twyla, and Emmett). They all have different needs and tastes, so we cater to each. Chris actually makes Buddy and Lewie fresh food, so we listed a Walmart Gift Card for them. We have plenty of treats and toys, but Emmett could use a new big bed.

We decided to kick off our Fall Supply Drive with one of our larger expenses; hay! We currently have 39 animals who eat hay as an integral part of their daily diet. Our hay budget goes up dramatically in the winter when the pasture puppies lose their ability to graze. This includes our cows, sheep, goats, horses, and donkeys. This was our delivery last week at a $1,400 price tag and will last just a few months.

The best way to contribute to the hay budget is through an online donation, checks mailed to the farm or a cash donation.

Hello, Friends of the Farm!

With winter on the horizon, we need your help in "restocking" our shelves so everyone can stay warm and full during the months ahead.

To help with this, we have put together a Supply Drive where we will be providing links to the most critical supplies that we need for each of our 14 different species!

If you are not local, you will be able to order online and have your items shipped here! If you are local, you will have the option of ordering online OR dropping your items off in person and stay for a few thank you cuddles from your favorite residents.

We are big believers in not forcing our animals to have interactions with other animals (or people, for that matter) until and unless they are ready. It's taken Emmett over 3 years to be comfortable with our youngest daughter, Waylon much prefers being alone than with the other pigs, and Sami, the goose still hangs with the turkeys instead of the other geese.

It's been three weeks now since Mongo joined our family and has yet to show an interest in wanting to be with the miniature horses or donkeys. He seems happiest when he's near others but has his own space. So we decided to build him his own pasture in the back of the property near Maible and Charlotte. The space shares a fence with the sheep, donkeys, mini horses, and pigs. He also has access to his own indoor space in the pig building. We'll continue to assess and make changes as needed, but for now, he seems quite content with his new setup.

When you have vet tech friends who drive from the cities on their day off to volunteer to help care for your animals 🥰

We had to have Lane in the picture as he's the reason we're lucky enough to have these amazing ladies in our lives. When we lived in the cities, Lane and Twyla would go to doggy daycare where many of these ladies worked (as second jobs) and were patients at their clinic. Lane made such an impression that we got to know them on a personal level. Almost 8-years later, they still come and visit despite their busy schedules!

We haven't done an update on baby Brooks in a little while. The once petite boy finally has a bit of a belly and is shooting up like a w**d! Because he started out so small, we've continued to give him bottles past the "recommended" time frame of 10-12 weeks. We are slowly starting the weening process, which, as you can imagine he isn't excited about! It's always a little sad when you approach the point when your babies no longer need the bottle, but we know he's ready!

This is absolutely incredible! Two pallets full of cat litter were delivered today! It's "non-clumpable," so no other rescues wanted it. That doesn't bother us a bit! In fact, it's a huge relief to be able to take litter off the shopping list for a few months. We are very grateful for our connection that got us on the radar and for the kind people who brought it to us ❤️

Brad and Mabel adorably remind us why it's as important to care for feral cats as non-feral cats. We baled these two and two others out of the shelter the day before the COVID lockdown. They were all a part of the working cat program; meaning too terrified for traditional adoption. These sweethearts have since become inseparable and often perform this little dance while they patiently wait their turn to be fed ❤️

There are few things better in life than pulling into your driveway after work and having your duck rush to greet you 🥰
