Congratulations everyone 🐸
Chad Showalter Simple Man's Kennel "What a wild ride! No excuses here, Cass got beat tonight, but I am proud of her effort this week. Very minimal hunting on this female due to her heat cycle and she performed beyond my expectations finishing 4th in the finals tonight. Burchel and my Phrogger’s Royal Phlush, BOB, performed well and it came down to the last tree for him in his finals cast, which is all you can ask of a hound. Charley Adkins has done an amazing job with this hound. Bob finished his first super stake run as the 2024 PKC super stake runner up.
Most importantly, I got to experience all the ups and downs with my son, Tyler, and my very good buddy, Mr. Adkins. This hunt will wear you and your hound out both mentally and physically. It is a hunt of attrition and anyone that has attempted this run knows what I am talking about. I am learning that I am the oddity in this sport as I still breed, whelp, train, and hunt what is born at my kennel, however, for any of you out there that are wondering, yes, it can still be done. Lots of patience, trial and error, long nights, frustration, and LUCK, but with all of this and some dedication, the pleasure hunter can still compete. Thanks to everyone that has reached out to wish us good luck or passed on congratulations. It is truly appreciated!! And, as always, we appreciate anyone crazy enough to hunt something that has came from our kennel!"

Really impressed at how Tony has started moving this week. Ever since it got hot, dry, and the summer foliage filled out he got bogged down at times. He would still find a c**n to tree but it just took him longer, but last night he started to show signs of maturing out of that phase. He covered ground really well and if he slowed down and worked a spot it he was treed shortly after. This was his third and final tree of the night where he went a little over 800 yards in relatively quick fashion. He still hasn't had a season under his belt yet only being a year old. Come November 10th I believe he's going to make the jump from a good dog, to a great dog. What I mean by that is he will perform at the level I expect a dog to perform. Hustle when turned loose and consistently find a c**n, quickly. He has already shown me a lot that gives me hope. Last night he made me even more excited to take my son out with him this season. I hope he is the one my son remembers hunting when he is old like me.

I got into beagles big time and my son had recently got into hounds. He got a pup which was about a year old in this video and this was the first time she seen a coon. The blue dog is my dads and the walker gyp on the tree is my uncles that he let us hunt with my sons pup. It was a bright night as you can see and we ended up getting treed 3 more times.
