Tidy day at the office yesterday winning the spaniel clubs novice stake held at stapleford park with now FTW Kendleshire Glory Of Bellsmill (Isla) also winning guns choice and to top it off find this trophy was also won by Bob Longville back in 1977 with Emma-Lene
Just hit the post last week with young Isla (Kendleshire Glory Of Bellsmill) picking up second place and guns choice! At just 17 months old she is showing all the right signs, a step in the right direction, onwards and upwards! 🏆 🔛🔝🔜
Fantastic afternoon on the rabbits in good company! All dogs had plenty of flushes and all got a few in their mouths! If only I could shoot like this all the time!

Part 3 we tried to put all those pieces together with the more experienced bitch, pattern/turn/stop to shot or movement via association, delivery and finished up with a blind, nice little sequence for young dogs!
Part two FOUNDATIONS we moved onto a blind that was over a hedge row, she’s learning to trust that stop whistle and my directions, still a little unsure at this point in time but making good progress! A little more experience will help her carry rabbits better, should also be noted a small reluctance to deliver at this stage which is a huge improvement on where she was to begin with!!
Bit of work putting a few bits together for Isla, long way to go yet but this young bitch is starting to get the idea, drop to shot and any movement is what we’re looking for here, starting to learn a more established pattern, the speed and flow will come in due course!
Fantastic morning out on the bunnies, steep hills got them all working hard for it! Some cracking shooting and plenty of banter!

Short clip of a shot and retrieve by figgs while out on Friday afternoon, wether it’s rough shooting, peg shooting, beating, picking up or trialling to the highest level our dogs have a role to play and must be able to cover all these bases effectively to become what we call a well adjusted and rounded ‘shooting dog’

First trial for young figgs! Early in the season and at such a young age with not much experience under her belt yet held her own and came away with 4th place at the MWGS novice AV on Wednesday, hopefully it’s a sign of more to come and this young little bitch will go from strength to strength!

Bit of puppy play with the newest additions to the kennels! Bred from our very own line of bi***es that have all proven themselves in the shooting field! Bob is never more at home than with a spaniel……and the gun! 🙄 also little Eva-Rose can’t help but get involved….sometimes wonder if she’s half spaniel with all that energy!

Testing couple of afternoons out on the pigeons! Young bitch (figgs) has taken it all in stride, marking well, steady and learning to go by name in a group, thrown in some handling training while the bloods up and showing she can work well under pressure, the training has really started to ramp up!

Cracking day at Arley estate on the ducks with David Beardsmore shooting! Young Bellsmill Dipper (Jenny) was on form showing exactly how a gundog should perform on a days shooting, rock steady on the peg and retrieving only the birds told to with absolute control, all in all fantastic day and we look forward to the next!
Out on the pigeons for a few hours, what better time to try out the 12 week old young prospect on a few retrieves at the end of the session!
