Hello vet nursing friends,

I need your help! We are currently looking for new full term nurse to come work with the wonderful team here at East Doncaster Veterinary Hospital .

We have a wonderful team, lots of laughs along side the rest of our day. Plenty of snacks, good feels and good pay!

We also would like someone who enjoys teaching students and trainees. We have a great ratio of experienced nurses - don't worry. Varied case load, busy but not too busy and great clients too!

Kitty was soon back to their normal self after the object was removed in surgery🙀🐾😻

It's very important to make sure all birds have the correct diet. Galahs in particular suffer from fatty tumours called lipomas.

Exercise and a good diet low in fat (nuts in particular) play a big part in keeping our first happy and healthy!

Tuesday Tip: If you haven't booked us to come and do your pets nails, keep a bar of soap handy when trimming nails at home. If you cut a nail too short, you can scrape the nail across the soap and stop the bleeding.

Chook chook chook.... Lovely chookies!

Our 2 Isa browns (red chookies) are rescue hens. At 18 months old Battery chickens that have been stuffed into a metal cage with between 3-7 other chickens are gotten "rid of". They have been forced to lay and at 18 months they are considered passed it.

We adopted 2 of these beautiful hens, who even though they still haven't grown back their feathers from their annual moult continue to give us precious eggs.

They didn't know dirt or daylight or kindness or grass or anything else other than a metal box.

Today and everyday they will be loved and cared for.❤️

Here's one for the bird lovers.....

NO AVOCADO, NOT ANY BIT OF THE TREE, LEAF, FRUIT, SKIN, SEED, should ever be fed to a bird!

If it ever happens by accident straight to a specialist bird vet...

Bird Vet Melbourne or Melbourne Bird Veterinary Clinic

Avocado, including all parts of their tree, are lethal to birds if consumed.

Avocados contain a fungicidal toxin called Persin, which can cause death in as short as 15 minutes after ingestion.

It leads to multiple organ failure, fluid around the heart and subsequent death.

Clinical signs are dyspnoea (respiratory distress), lethargy, reluctance to perch, closing of eyes and fluffing itself up.

Treatment options include crop lavage and activated charcoal, however the prognosis is generally grave.

There are many other great vegetable options available to feed birds, just avoid this one!
