Charlie is enjoying playing in the water. Guess the hose is better than dumping the water trough
Spot the Beagle
Meet Fred! A 5 month old German Shepherd Mix. He LOVES people. Have another dog? No problem he's GREAT with dogs of any size. Want a travel companion or horse show dog? Perfect! He likes to go wherever you go and is the best horse show puppy. He doesn't bark at or try to chase the horses but does want to visit with all the people around. Have a cat? He's pretty indifferent to them. He's been around older kids(10+) and has been great with them.
He's UTD on vaccines and neutered. You can fill out an application to adopt Fred through Is Today My Day Rescue. This sweet boy can't wait to find his furever family.
Only part of the crew we're currently hanging out with!
Reminder: If you have animals that require medication to get through the Fourth of July safely and have delayed talking to your vet you need to do that THIS COMING WEEK!
You're now officially out of time to procrastinate!
Here are some helpful tips to get through:
1) Leave the dogs at home and do not take them to the displays with you. Firework displays are for people to enjoy not your dogs.
2) Make sure that your dogs are securely inside your home if people will be coming and going try putting them I a roo. or in their kennel
3) Have a radio playing loudly in the barn or house or the tv
4)Plan to turnout and bring horses in early and skip night turnout for a few days
5) FEED extra hay. Have hay nets/bags or if you're like me and use slow feeders filled and in their stalls BEFORE fireworks starts so no one has to go in with the horses once fireworks start
Hanging out with this cutie
Keep the temperature and humidity in mind when working horses as we start getting increasingly warmer weather
A couple of firsts for us with these guys. No we don't normally take on cows and potbelly pigs nor do we plan on adding that to our regular offerings as that's not our area of expertise
If you have pets that are afraid of fireworks and require medication for 4th of July
1) if you have some on hand make sure it's still good and not expired
2)Talk to your vet about getting some NOW and not July 1st,2nd, or 3rd
3) Make sure you know th proper dosing instructions and when to give it for it to be most effective. Some medications may require more than one dose to be best effective
Trust me we get it. One of our personal horses requires medication to get through too and we have an established plan for him with our vet
Normally handgrazing is reserved for when the horses are on stall rest or to dry off after a bath. Unless that horse is Diablo, then handgrazing is anytime. Particularly in spring when his allotted time on grass is minimal. His current time is fifteen minutes handgrazing or 30-45 minutes in the pasture with a grazing muzzle on
Yes my own horse is extremely high maintenance, yes he knows it, no he doesn't care or plan on changing his ways🤷♀️
Trivia question: What are some reasons we limit grass for some horses?
I don't often post my own dogs but these two are too cute not to share
Drama and Ronnie
Happy ponies!
We don't usually share asking for donations but this one is close to us. Remember the Harry Potter Litter, and sweet little Aqua that we posted. They were fosters through Is Today My Day Rescue. We ended up adopting Ronnie from the Harry Potter Litter and some friends of ours adopted her brother Harry.
Any donation that you are able to make is appreciated and goes to help the dogs.

As horse owners we know that hearing the word Strangles, even if it's not your horse puts you on edge and you want to do everything you can to make sure your horse doesn't get it or that it doesn't continue to spread.
Here's one thing to help reduce the risk. Get rid of the nylon or web halters. No matter how much you may love it, you can replace it and protect your horses simply by getting rid of the halter once your horse is out of quarantine can help
🚨 Safety First: Time to Toss It! 🚨
In the aftermath of a Strangles outbreak, take no chances. While we often strive to disinfect, web halters present a unique challenge. Their intricate fabric holds countless nooks and crannies that can harbor bacteria, making complete sanitation nearly impossible.
For the health and safety of your equine companions, the safest course of action is to dispose of any web halters once your horse is cleared from quarantine.
Protecting your herd starts with eliminating risks at their source.
