Its been 1 year since I posted anything. There's a lot of reason my account was quiet for so long. Likely will remain so for a while longer.

But I had to share that this summer I have had 400% more bee stings from wasps and yellow jackets then ever in my previous 40 years.

What has caused this new fun trend? I can only suppose that somehow I have angered the apis gods but their revenge is slow and inconsistent. So unlike bees.

I dont have any oregon grapw / mahonia holly on my property. But i've been really wanting to plant some especially because i have some shady spots.

Well today at work we harvested some berries and then used them to dye cloth handkerchiefs. They turned out amazing!! So beautiful.

One more reason to plant some of these native beautiful plants.

Got my acceptance letter today for OSU to do post bacc. I'll be taking basics like physics and ochem and calculus I think. Which also means I can start my application for vet school. AND on the 29th i have orientation for volunteering at the bird alliance of portland formerly known as adoubon society. Even tho birds arent real. Feels like a weird but cool thing to do the year I turn 40.....

Kind of almost starting a new hobby. I mean. Just look at that form and confidence.Entering my Robin Hood era.

Looking for something family friendly in the Portland area. Very much appreciated.

In the meantime. Tomorrow we're riding trimet to Lirael's preschool. Its a short trip. And Perri and I will hike around the park while shes at school.

Nothing helps ya get those steps in better than being carless. I do feel grateful that almost everything we have and need is walkable. Sad to miss Ursa's violin lessons. And complicated for work. But we're gonna figure it out!

Making my way thru the pruning map. Roses. Fig. And 2 plum trees done. I even tackled the wisteria. Which. I love the wisteria. Its beautiful and adds a natural element to the catio. But man. Pruning it is a pain and it tries every year to crawl under my siding. I might have to strat tying off the runners to the porch so it stops reaching. Anyone have better advice?

Really just trying to get rid of the skunk under my house before the snow hits and it hunkers down. Waking up to skunk smell at 3am every night for 3 nights has not been fun. I sprinkled some repel all around the perimeter of the house and tossed some in the crawl space. Repel all has putrid essence in it that has worked pretty well for me with other pests and even raccoons so hopefully the skunks get the nessage and move on. Our neighborhood has a ton of skunks. I see them roaming around all the time. My house got hit like a few months ago and ot was bad. But now its been nightly. Its worse than when my dog got sprayed 2 years ago. Fingers crossed. 🦨🦨🦨🦨🚫🚫🚫🚫❄️❄️❄️❄️

Pruning Map. Today and tomorrow its not raining I'm hoping to tackle the wisteria and grapes. And move on the the apple and walnut. One of my plum had a rotten branch that fell last month and I need to cut up and clean that off the porch as well. Santa, please bring me a small electric chainsaw lol.
