Happy from pretty little Cinderella.
Cinderella is one of 14 foxes here at Walking Wild that was illegally and cruelly abandoned in the wild. Cinderella, and all the foxes here at Walking Wild, are not wild fox, they are captive bred. A captive bred fox is usually over 100 years removed from a wild fox. Abandoning one in the wild is not only illegal, but it is usually a death sentence for the fox as they lack the instincts to survive. Additionally it can cause a lot of damage to the wild fox population as many captive bred fox occur in man mad colors, like Cinderella, that have health issues due to their color morph or poor breeding practices. These colors breeding into a wild fox population can do a lot of harm.
All the captive bred fox that were abandoned and able to find a home here at Walking Wild, saught help from people, which led to them being able to be caught. A captive bred fox knows it needs people to survive, in most cases.

David and our entire team have been hard at work on some big expansion here at Walking Wild. We are building 7 new fox enclosures and 5 are complete!! Here is one of our new crews right after they moved into their new house. More enrichment is coming for their outdoor space. Yes, all of our fox have climate controlled indoor/outdoor enclosures and our expansion enclosures that surround our main building are no exception.
Let's meet these five new cuties. All of these guys are right around 5 months old. (Dot hadn't arrived yet when this video was taken so there are only 4 in the video)
🦊 Dot - Dot was abandoned and found her way to a kind couple for help. After a few days of earning her trust I was able to walk them through how to catch her and they succeeded less than 24 hours later. Thank you to this kind couple for caring and getting Dot to safety with us.
🦊 Heimlich - Heimlich was purchased in Ohio and then taken to an illegal state and left tethered outside because he was too much for the family that bought him. For months another family member was trying to get them to give them the little fox so they could get it to us, and they finally succeeded after lots of patience and hard work. Heimlich is now safe with us.
🦊 Francis - Francis was saved by a young man who knew someone keeping a little fox in a cage with his deceased litter mate. Heimlich was in really rough shape with mange, an eye infection and fleas. After convincing the person to let him have Heimlich he reached out to us for help and we were able to get Heimlich here and on his way to recovery. Today Heimlich is safe, happy and in great health.
🦊 Atta & Flick - These two were surrendered by a wonderful gentleman who loved them and took amazing care of them. Unfortunately not long after welcoming them to his family he had some health issues that caused him to no longer be able to care for them. His daughter reached out to us and we were honored to continue loving and caring for them at our sanctuary.

Join us in celebrating foodie Friday! Who doesn't love enjoying their favorite food? Our crew certainly does. They are quite passionate about it. Every day we go through over 70lbs of kibble! Kibble is one of our largest expenses as our crew gets a specialty kibble created just for their unique needs.
We are asking for your help this foodie Friday to send kibble our crews way. It is easy to do so, just click the link in this post or our stories to visit our Chewy wishlist. All you have to do is add a bag or two to your cart, checkout and it will get delivered right to Terk, Tantor and the entire gang. Let's see if we can get one month of kibble sent the foxes way today!! That is 75 bags.
Terk, Tantor and all of us at Walking Wild want to thank you for your support and sending a bag of kibble our crews way. Just one bag of kibble helps us continue to save lives so thank you!

We have been quite for a bit and here is the tiny little reason why, please welcome Melody's baby sister, Harmony to the Walking Wild family.
Harmony was born last Monday. Her arrival didn't go as planned and left both Molly and Harmony fighting for their lives, however we are thrilled to share that both are home and doing very well. Molly even arranged two rescues while in the hospital healing, you can't keep her from furthering our mission, no matter what.
Please join us in welcoming Harmony to the family and praying for everyone's continued recovery.

Good Morning from Lilo and Nani. It appears I caught Gigi in the middle of her morning stretching in the background.
It's and we have an updated wishlist with the items we are most in need of right now. Our biggest need are the electrical supplies on the list. I know those might not seem exciting, but we can't complete our new enclosures without them as all our enclosures have electric for AC and Heat, so they are actually very exciting!! To find our wishlist, just click the link 😊

It is a beautiful evening to relax outside here at Walking Wild and Jessie has found the perfect spot.
Did you know that Arctic fox get an entirely new coat of fur twice a year? Their summer and winter coats are completely different. Their summer coat isn't just hiding under their winter coat, they have to grow it new. Some of our Arctic fox have already begun growing their winter coat and loosing their dark summer hairdo, but Jessie is still 100% in her summer look.

It was a busy busy weekend here at Walking Wild. Friday I got calls about two kits in emergency situations that needed to get here ASAP. Thanks to two amazing volunteer pilots we were able to make both rescue missions happen over the weekend and both these little boys are safe and sound! A huge thank you to the people that dedicated their time to getting them out of the sad and life threatening situations they were in and then reaching out to us to provide a forever sanctuary and home for these special boys!

Most of you are aware that our precious daughter Melody passed away on June 23rd after an almost year long battle with a rare and very aggressive form of leukemia. Melody was a huge part of Walking Wild and brought a love of animals and a joy to everyone that witness it that can't be described in words. To allow her joy and spirit to continue to fill every square inch of Walking Wild, we are building a memorial here. This memorial will be a place for all who visit to relax, reflect and find joy themselves. If you would like to donate to the memorial please visit

Walking Wild Rescue
Founded in 2020 Walking Wild is a non-profit organization that rescues and provides a safe haven for captive bred fox and wolf dogs. We provide every animal with the love and respect they deserve and educate the public about the cruelty of the fur industry and what the reality of welcoming a fox or wolf dog into your family is.
Foxes: Currently, in the United States, captive bred foxes are being raised two ways, either born on a fur farm to be pelted or bred for the pet industry. Foxes come to Walking Wild from a variety of circumstances. We provide a safe haven for foxes rescued from fur farms, surrendered by owners that are no longer able to care for them and captive bred foxes that have been dumped in the wild and are not able to survive.
Many captive bred foxes are born and raised on a fur farm to be pelted. For foxes born on a fur farm a bleak existence lies ahead of them living in small cages and never touching grass, until they are pelted and hanging in someone’s closet.
Walking Wild will be working with fur farmers around the US to take foxes that they are willing to surrender. These foxes will either be pups that are injured or rejected by their mothers, foxes that are too small, sick, older foxes that are no longer of use to the farmer or foxes with coats that the farmer can’t use.
In addition we will be providing a home to captive bred pet foxes that are no longer wanted or able to be cared for by their owners. Some people purchase foxes from breeders, excited to have a cool pet, but many of those people don’t understand what it is like to own a fox. People in these situations often end up neglecting their fox or feel that they have no choice but to abandon it in the wild where it has a slim chance of survival due to being captive bred and having imprinted on people.
Wolf Dogs: Owning a wolf dog is legal in 38 states. Because of how easy it is to purchase a wolf dog from a breeder, many find themselves in the homes of people that expect them to act like a regular dog. This unrealistic expectation can result, in some cases, ending in abuse, as a bait dog for dog fighting or hunting training, or being dumped in the wild. Walking Wild is here to provide a sanctuary for these amazing animals where they can be just who they are and respected and loved for it.
Although owning a wolf dog is currently legal in 38 states, each state views a wolf dog differently. Some states view them no different than a regular dog while others require permits or have lethal laws in effect if one were to bite someone. The truth is that a wolf dogs are very different from regular domestic dogs. Even a low content wolf dog, less than 50% wolf, still acts like a wolf in some ways. Because of how different a wolf dog can be from a domestic dog, many find themselves no longer wanted by their family and in need of a safe place to call home.
Here at Walking Wild Rescue, we will provide a safe haven for wolf dogs whose owners are no longer able to take care of them, those who are being neglected/abused and those that have been abandoned at a shelter or let go in the wild.
Walking Wild will provide all of its wolf dogs a safe place to be as wolf like as they were intended to be.
