❗️PLEASE HELP SPREAD THE WORD❗️

With more and more families moving back to Paradise and Magalia, it is more important now than ever to ensure that your cats are microchipped and have collars with ID tags on. Even if your cat is an inside only cat, it can easily slip out the door or window and be gone.

We have been seeing an increased number of lost cats recently on the ridge which is very concerning. The chances of your cat being found and returned to you are much higher if they are microchipped and have a collar with an ID tag on. Microchips are the gold standard for identifying a cat, but a collar with ID tag is also very helpful. Having a collar on your cat also helps locals know that your cat is owned and not a possible stray.

🛑If you need a collar for your cat please message our page and we would be happy to get one to you.
Butte Humane Society in Chico also offers low cost microchipping for your convenience.

MIRACLES DO HAPPEN🧡💚💙

Yesterday one of our team members Wanda Farley responded to a request to rescue a kitty that had been hanging out at Gundrun Steinecker's house in Magalia for several months. Little did we know the outcome that would have!

After being rescued the kitty was taken to FUR, and per the intake protocol she was scanned for a microchip. To everyones amazement she had a microchip!! We hit the jackpot!

After making a couple of phone calls it was determined that the kitties name was "Miss Torti". She had disappeared nearly 4 years ago after a storm about a mile from Gundrun's house.

Miss Torti was finally reunited with her family today after 4 long years. She instantly recognized her daddy and started purring away.

A special THANK YOU to all involved in getting this sweet girl back home to her family, who to this day still had her missing flyer hanging on the wall hoping that one day a miracle would happen!
-Thanks to Gundrun Steinecker for reaching out for help, and for feeding Miss Torti and looking after her for all these months 😻
-Thanks to FUR for ALL you do and housing this sweet girl until she was reunited😻
-Thanks to our team member Wanda Farley for rescuing her and for all you do for our team😻
It takes a village!!

This is a huge example why its SO important to microchip your pets. Never give up hope! Miracles happen everyday!💜

We've been working hard to update our feeding station bins over the last couple months, as well as build additional kitty shelters in anticipation of winter and it was just in time! We were able to test them out right away and they fared very well in the first snow!!

Angela- Angela was born and raised in Paradise and has always considered Paradise her home. On November 8th, 2018 the Camp Fire took her family home and her beloved 5 kitties. After searching for her own kitties in hopes they were still alive she started volunteering to help any surviving kitties in Paradise and Magalia. It has been over a year now since the fire and she is still actively feeding the Fire Cats in Paradise & Magalia every day.

Wanda- Wanda started volunteering in February, 2019 when she answered a Facebook ad that was looking for a person to maintain feeding stations for dogs in the aftermath of the Camp Fire. While trying to rescue a dog she ended up getting a small black kitty instead that was later reunited with its owner. After that she was pretty much hooked on saving kitties still in the burn zone. She is still actively feeding the Fire Cats a year later and is our main feeder in Magalia.

Marie- Marie is a true Camp Fire survivor. On November 8th, 2018 the Camp Fire destroyed her family home on Edgewood Lane. In the midst of evacuating she had to let her kitty Rex out of his carrier due to the lack of room in the car, only to realize later that there would have been room for him since she and her daughter had to take off running to escape the fire. She is still missing two of her kitties, Rex and Thomas. Marie initially started as a volunteer in February 2019, doing data entry. She now helps feed the Fire Cats in Paradise.

Frances- Frances started volunteering as a matcher during the first week of the Camp Fire. She was motivated into action after her family’s home burned in the Nuns Fire, and after volunteering at emergency animal shelters in Los Angeles after the Woolsey Fire. Despite living in Los Angeles she has made numerous trips up to Butte County over the last year to help feed the Fire Cats and volunteer in the field. She currently helps us daily with online administrative assistance and field coordination.
